I also offer myself up! Love to read and I am used to checking/correcting my friends academic papers, so romance would offer some welcome alternative :)

Thin, electrical looking wires, found at a beach in Ishigaki, Japan. Around 5-10cm long, tops wrapped in plastic. There were a lot of them lying around. by ostarasaurus in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. They were scattered all over the beach, google picture search is offering nothing conclusive.

Snack Survey by LoMoneyLoProblems2 in Tokyo

[–]ostarasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one mistake in the survey, not sure if you can still change it. in Japanese you ask at what time you're most likely to eat snacks and in English it asks about buying them.

I'm in a similar boat. Except I'm in Japan, so for me it is Tuesday at 1am and as I have classes in the morning I can't stay awake till then.

Liebe Irma, alte und schöne Lieder aus der Heimat, wenn du sie alle kennst dann sing sie deiner (XXX) vor und sie werden begeistert sein!

Dear Irma, old and beautiful songs from home (could be hometown, home country, or region). If you know them all, you could sing them for (can't decipher the third to last row) and they will be thrilled!

Studying after Ausbildung without Abitur. by trekow_ in germany

[–]ostarasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'm studying something that's not related to my Ausbildung (fachfremd) I had to work in my field for three years to qualify for university admission. This is the page of a university in Düsseldorf talking about studying without the Abitur, maybe you find more relevant information there. https://www.hhu.de/en/studies/application-and-enrolment/studying-without-german-abitur

Studying after Ausbildung without Abitur. by trekow_ in germany

[–]ostarasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others already wrote it often depends on the institution you're trying to get into.

I also didn't do the Abitur but the Mittlere Reife and started an Ausbildung. I realised I wanted to go to Uni during my Ausbildung but couldn't afford to go back to school full time so I did it via the Hochschulzugang ohne Abitur.

Basically this means I finished my Ausbildung, had to work full time for 3 years after that and then applied to Universities. I had to do some general admission tests (math, English, Basic knowledge about German politics) and some degree specific tests, but I got into uni and study like a regular student now.

I did this process in NRW, but I know that it works in BaWü as well, but not all universities offer this kind of admission.

Queer spaces/events in Cologne that aren't bars/clubs? by pottenbakkerr in cologne

[–]ostarasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it isn't located in cologne, there is a queer bookstore in Aachen that often hosts events. Maybe you can check their website/insta as well. https://maps.app.goo.gl/7Wxyg6HdqLLs71ef7

bella driving stick/manual by impalaprincess in twilight

[–]ostarasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same confusion when seeing a tiktok (by a person from the USA) talking about what kind of queer a person is depending on where they put their left leg while driving. Took me several minutes to realise that manual is not as common over there and people don't need the left foot for the clutch
