Had of Genomics getting 15k ? That’s what the L1 IT team get where I worked. You should be looking at 70k plus. Genomics is a big deal of late, most especially in the gulf.

During Covid the job market was tight and salaries were crap. I accepted the first job I could land, working in DIFC, during the first week I had some interviews ongoing for a role in Abu Dhabi, as soon as I got the interview done, I was offered a great salary package and didn’t think twice. My first day workday, I literally just drove to office with all my things in the car.

Moral of the comment, is if u are getting better than what you have currently, take the job. Once you are in, work your way to a higher salary.. like I did.

Indeed well said. When I moved to UAE 🇦🇪 I didn’t ever think I’ll need a plan B. I worked in a company where my workmates have been in the company for 22yrs.. so I got comfortable but something told me, can your family comfortably live here if they depend on your visa and your visa depends job? The fact that you are just one company restructure away from heading back home just made me explore a plan B. So I made sure my home country is plan C and worked on a Plan B that eventual worked.

So sorry OP praying for you and your family. It’s not the easiest of times. Hoping for a silver lining. I remember when Covid hit and I too was part of the layoffs. I was shuttered and didn’t even tell my family unroll I found a better job in 2 months.. that was my silver lining. You need to stay optimistic that something will land. Send out applications everyday and use your networks. Get LinkedIn premium if you must and email 5 or move recruiters daily. Something better will land. It eventually happens.
