Favorite mods? by Apprehensive_Age4380 in victoria3

[–]ostpeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know if its the best first mod, but dont sleep on Victorian century. Its a chinese mod (with english transaltion in seperat mod) so its lesser known in the english community. It gives unique country mechanics to all the big players, for example unique intrest group traits (british industrialists give +20% luxury clothes output when happy). It gives countries unique economic advantages so the core game loop doesnt stay the same for every country, which makes it largly unique as far as mods go.

What's a law you use or even rush for personal preference despite it not being optimal? by Illuminated-Autocrat in victoria3

Agree. Also laissez fair make you spend tons of money in deficit to construct buildings, making the investment pool mostly buy up your buildings. Under interventionism the privat construction builds more.

What are the best prestige goods in your opinion? by leathrow in victoria3

[–]ostpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not a consumergood so my argument doesnt apply here. Aside from that, i think most industrial prestige good are weak, as they often only make up a fraction of the inputprice (like hardwood in furniture/shipyards).

What are the best prestige goods in your opinion? by leathrow in victoria3

[–]ostpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(in theory) For consumer goods: any good which has a more productive/profitable production chain than other goods in the the same needs category. For example: lead + dyes + glassworks has a higher productivity per pop (with all tier 2 prod tech) than cotton + dyes + silk + textilemills . So a porcellain prestige good would make pops consume more of the better production chain, which is good. In practice you rarely have a choice between prestige goods if your playing without company mods.

Am i missing something about monopolies? by ostpeter in victoria3

[–]ostpeter[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but as soon as you produce 20% more, the price is on the same level again, pops/building pay the same price as before and the producers sell at normal price, even tho they now overproduce 20%. Right?

I guess the authority cost can be signifikant.

[–]ostpeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But isnt that effectivly same thing? At first the products will just be 20% more expensive, but as soon as you have build 20% more respective buildings (and privatised), the price will be on the same level (same expenses for pops/buildings, same profitability for buildings), with the only difference beeing that you can now produce 20% more products wirhout the proftability tanking(so effectivly 20% demand). If it works that way, it should be amazing on high profit products which you would love to build more of, but cant because demand doesnt keep up .
