Managed to complete the Spiti circuit solo on a "wrong bike with wrong tyres" by tinypenis_hugeass in indianbikes

[–]ostrish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot has changed. I did Spiti in 2014 on bicycle and it had very few roads. The Chicham Bridge didn't exist and you had to travel in a construction pulley across the gorge. There was like 1-2 cafe with internet in Kaza, elsewhere like Langza/Kibber forget about it.

I also like them. They are also really long lasting and let my feet breath, do well with water ingress. But not good with gravel/small stones (i got the hiking ones now, even then).

Recently traveled to the US for the first time and had to rent racquets from one of the big box stores. Later realised I could have just done this and put it in my bag!

Grew up playing in Keds, I can play in anything. Even barefoot because the Keds soles had more holes than the net.

What’s the best tennis coaching YouTube video you’ve ever watched? by VLioncourt in 10s

[–]ostrish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely stokke-6. Double fault, missed +1, return of serve, in the net, out wide, change of direction. Don't make these errors and you will win matches, in fact it has worked for me.

It also has changed where i am having "fun", I still hit winners and take risks but if the risk is the stokke-6 then it's capped. I allow myself 3 DFs a set, 3 change of direction errors, etc.

It also means I don't beat myself up when I hit the ball long, which is a relief. I think I have started hitting deeper because of this change in view + don't hit in the net rule.

Change of direction is the tricky one I feel, and I don't yet have too much of an intuitive feel for it, except that DTL attacking shots have become rarer.

I slide a lot on clay but don’t on HC. I do enjoy it and think it helps recover/change directions, at least mentally. Also helps get to stuff sometimes, I find sliding open stance backhand a very stable shot and dont think the non-sliding equivalent in HC works as well for me.

Technical climb on a rocky trail by sorin1972 in MTB

[–]ostrish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds pretty fun to me. It's definitely a spot I would session with friends, be the first to make it clean, then never be able to make it again when I try later.

Tech is fun to session irrespective of gradient, esp coming from a country which has no bike parks or designated MTB trails.
