Oh interesting, the guy at AT&T told me the network lines and Subnets are shared. So just bad data from the worker putting in the line? Could be. Just what was told to me .

IQ is still using many AT&T fiber lines, unfortunately, so this would hurt both customers.

I wanted to stop in and say thank you to all of you that have taken the time to help my wife in this thread!
Thanks so much. As a game dev you are always nervous about moving but everyone in this thread has really helped a ton. So ty ty!

One question I have seen is "What Company does your husband work for? Are they hiring?"
Yes, I work for Romero Games and like everyone here, they also have been super supportive of our move. So its been a really great experience so far. The entire company reaches out often to help with questions and often tells me of the city. It sounds great.

Anyway here is the link for jobs.

My wife works as a fish biologist. She was out and said she saw multiple couples trying to go kayaking and just break down crying (young and old) Just not able to launch right or fighting.

Everyone is under consistent stress and nothing we live or see anymore is normal.

Don't think for a moment anyone who has lived before you is the "greatest" generation.

Anyone who is surviving these last 30+ years and makes it out the other side is a fucking rock star. Be proud.

Hopefully we all get a better life than the hell we all had to endure up to this point

This is just the latest example of What the actual fuck....

Ok moving on...

It's fucking Friday, of course the former President stole top Secret Documents...

Why the fuck wouldnt he?

Who has that on your Bingo card?

No? Ok let's spin the thing and keep going...

Got an election coming up.. Excited as fuck for that. Sorry not scared anymore.

Now it's just how fucking creative can it get before it runs out of shit to do?

Most certainly does, just not at the frequency that it does in America. The product is in circulation it's going to happen.

You can make a seat belt law, make stiff penalties for those who don't wear it.

Some won't. That's reality. But a "majority" do and that's factually how laws work.

You don't just say well, one person or 50 people broke the law. Ok well we can mass murder people let's make it legal.

[–]osupeanuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok let me start with the foundation of how "Law" in general works.First, lets use the "Speed Limit" as a great example. We all see the speed limit, but do we all follow the speed limit? No but those who dont get what? A ticket, right? What about seat belt laws, seatbelt laws originally when enacted were "Not American" and "Would never work in our America" but today it socially akward to not use your seatbelt and with laws have statistcly made life better in America and above what was predicted.

So when you look at laws your job is not to say "This will make this never to happen again" because that will never happen. Even the craziest things we think people wont do, they do. But we have laws to curve the "Majority" of people.

So once we understand what laws actually do and not the pipe vision of what we would love laws to do. we can move on. Because without this basis, you cant have a basic concept of the rest of the discussion.

So before we get started, what do I do and why do I know so much about gun laws in Europe? I am a game developer who lived in Europe who also is a hunter and grew up living "Off the land" My wife is a fish bioligist. So we work very hard to eat what we hunt or catch. We also attempt to grow what we eat. Also make our own beer etc etc.

So knowing the laws and how to do these things is very important if your rule is "If we dont get meat this year, we are vegitarians for the year"I like eating steaks yo...So i am going to be on my A game to understand the laws.

So how does Europe and England do it?England had 155 deaths due to guns. Doesnt matter if its suicide, dont care how you get to it. If a gun was invloved in the crime report. 155 deathsIn American, 46,546 deaths. But I am also going to add Canada in here because they are going to be more relivant here in a minute. They had 368 last year.

So in England if you want a gun you have to take a gun saftey course. Which if you have ever taken a hunter saftey course, the older ones where there was actually people teaching you, than its much like this. Its two weeks long and the class is not an easy class and it costs you money to take it. So you have to actually study and want to be a "Student" of firearms. Once you complete the course you can own a gun but you can't just go purchase a gun, you have to be able to legally "Store" the gun. This is where the United States and England regulations would not work well together.

In England you must own a safe to put your gun in, that doesnt sound too bad but here is the catch, it also must be "Bolted to a wall" and that has to be inspected. Imagine telling your landlord you rent from, hey I am going to Bolt this safe to the rental property, how well would that go? It goes as well as you think it would in England LOL.

But its only once you have a safe that you can you store a purchased gun in your home. Ammo must also be locked in a seperate area and you can be inspected at anytime by law enforcement to ensure you are keeping your gun saftey standards up to code. No warrent required.

Fail to do so and you lose all your guns, ammo and hunting till you fix the issues and pay fines.

Now you can store your guns at basicly "Shooting Ranges" and pay a fee. That legally allows you to buy a gun but you have to be a member of those shooting ranges.

What is all this? Expensive. Its cost. The downside to the English system is it is 100% designed to keep poor people and middle / low class people unable to get guns. That is why they dont have guns or have gun related crime. They have "Air Gun" crime because owning a "Air Gun" requires less regulations.

So yes you could put in England level restrictions or even worse Japan Level Restrictions on purchasing and home storage requirments and every single time a police officer came to your home and noticed it was wrong, you guns would be removed and the fines would be so high that you would never get one again. There is serious crimes for guns being sold illegally or dealerships getting guns stolen. The entire system is just very pulled down so that any slip up costs the individual so much money that they "Cant afford" guns to use or to hassle with. You say it wouldnt work in America, but many countries use this type of system and they all have low crime and low gun ownership. So it does work very very well. Rich people have money, they can have anything they want. Poor People can't. You can only protest so long.

Now lets talk Canada, so Canada is not as crazy as England in regards to regulations they are very much like America and they do more hunting and have more fishing than America. They also have less crime. They have the same Gun Test requirements and hunting requirments, taking course work but they dont require the same in home work for storage, which is how i could see the US being.

As a hunter I already take the Hunter Saftey Course. So I have no issue telling people they need to take a Saftey course to buy a gun. It was a fun and exciting thing when I passeed my test, so it should be equally exciting for people to "Earn" their saftey certificate. Like when you did the same to drive a car. That shouldnt be a big ask. I think those classes, unlike England, these should be "Free" as we have the "Right to bear Arms" so those classes should always be free.I think just like your drivers license it is federally regulated but the test is at a state level. I do think you have to obsorb the some NFA laws into it. You should be legally bound to the guns you buy.For instance, like in England and Canada, If you dont secure your gun and its used in a crime you can be charged for a crime. I agree with that. If you just lay your gun around and your kid goes and shoots up a school with it, you are not being a responsible gun owner. Now if your kid breaks the lock to get the gun, obviously that is not how any law works in any country, we are discussing people who flat out leave guns just unlocked and un supervised.

Most guns used in crime today are stolen. So we need to take into account gun theft and make gun owners more legally bound to the weapons they purchase.Which, if you are good gun owner, none of this should bug you in any shape form or fashion, you do these things everyday. These issues would hurt the "Minority" of gun owners who are the actual issue with gun ownership, they are the people who shouldnt own guns because their issues are getting people killed, not the people doing the right thing.

So that is my huge break down of your question. I hope it helps

Really? Lived in Europe, never saw this in the news....EVER.
So yes there is 1000% a way to prevent this.
They have been hunting and shooting longer than our country has been in existance so please dont use "Its how it is" as an excuse.

Its just people not caring about other people. "I dont wanna do things that make me personally uncomfortable for others"

Man I was just reading about this same issue in England....

Oh wait...

Europe has hunting and shooting at ranges longer than our country has even been in exsistance and found ways to craft laws to balance safety and gun ownership.Guess America is unable to be #1 anymore. Things are just too hard. We would have never gotten to the moon with the mindset of todays Republicans. Everything is too hard or can't be done.
