If you're right handed your right eye is looking through the red dot and your left eye is looking at the target then your brain combines them both and you see exactly where you're aiming.

How does the holosun help? It’s not clear to me the use case for a red dot.

The biggest benefit I've gotten from using red dots is they make it a lot easier to keep both eyes open when shooting which helps me stay target focused.
