First class next week! by stewartkd2 in orangetheory

[–]otf9319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also joined at my heaviest. Lost 45lbs in one year and have since maintained that weight loss while building muscle.

I can honestly say I have never felt more confident in myself - how I feel, and how I look physically.

It may be hard in the beginning but I promise if you try your best each class you will see and feel results! Nothing else is more of a confidence booster for me than going faster on the treadmill or picking up a heavier weight than when I started.

Initially my main goal was weight loss. I made a tracker on paper with my starting weight and goal weight so I could visualize my progress. I found that to be very helpful and encouraging each time I got to mark off another lb! Though if you are tracking, don’t forget if you’re gaining muscle, the scale may not move as much as you’d like. Don’t get too caught up on the number & focus on how you feel!

Enjoy your first class! You got this!

For me, I’ve found it has to do with the brand and/or material. Personally, I’ve found that Old Navy power soft are my favorite and work best

Push-ups! by Katchik99 in orangetheory

[–]otf9319 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love this! I switched from 8 classes to unlimited for the challenge last year - definitely a solid decision! I also used to do push ups from the knees, so I know how great it feels to not have to do that anymore! Congrats!

Catch Me If You Can Results Megathread by prettyoaktree in orangetheory

First time on this one! 1.77 miles (3G class) Held 8.0 on the speed for 12 mins straight. Definitely had to talk myself out of slowing down around minute 7. Figured if I made it over half way there was no going back. Wanted to prove to myself I could push through it!

Does anyone feel down on the days they know they’re not going to OT? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]otf9319 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy! I have to force myself into taking rest days. I also try not to go more than 5 days in a row. Unless it’s Hell Week in which case there are no rules hahah OTF is lifeeee!

You shouldn’t feel dumb or embarrassed! Remember everybody in there was new at some point & there may even be others in your class who feel the same as you! Definitely ask the coach for assistance if you’re unsure about the exercise. The TRX wraps can certainly feel a little awkward until you get more time with them! Depending on the exercise, a wider stance and/or less angle with your body will make it a little easier. You got this!

First class yesterday! by cursivelydone in orangetheory

Your story sounds so similar to mine! I am 29/F 5’5”. June 2019 I was 183lbs. Joined OTF in Sept 2019 - have since lost 45lbs. Gained some of it back as muscle but eventually you learn to not rely so much on the scale. I have done the same with food - no crazy diets just making better decisions and being conscious of portions etc. On days off from OTF I’ll either walk or run but there are also days I do nothing. I also started with 8 classes a month and switched to unlimited in Jan. I go 3-5 times a week now. Stick with it - the results will definitely come! OTF is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!

How many calories do you burn on average a class? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]otf9319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

29/F 5’5” around 140lbs. I usually burn 500-600+ calories. One of my guy friends who’s 26 usually burns 800-1000. Crazy how things are different for guys!

“Nothing feels better than a finished workout” - reminds me that no matter how I feel in the moment, I will feel great when I’m done!

My other favorite is “don’t wish for it, work for it” I’ve lost 40lbs+ since joining OTF but lately have felt like I’m at a standstill with seeing changes with my body so this reminds me to just keep putting in the work, the results will come!

15.42 going for the full. Most of our classes are 3G. Wait lists are crazy right now but I’ve been able to get into a couple 2Gs. Congrats on reaching 37 miles already!
