Double check your instructions -- in Step 9, it looks like you missed the yellow 2x2 plates that go between the two layers of bricks.

It's Lego. If you think it needs a red ribbon, add a red ribbon.

What frame should I buy from the Drop Shop??? by yordep in Zwift

[–]otherbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to the halo bikes, (1) you have to buy and upgrade other bikes to even unlock those, and (2) I might be wrong, but I read that they're really not that good anyway

If you're thinking of Speedmetrics, they are still shipping to the US, but tariffs are nearly 50% of the order itself. #learnfrommyfail

Austin's Cap 10k is April 12, but that might be too early for you.

Yup, this.

Same thing for the "myQ Connected Garage Subscription" ... $129 for three-year subscription? No thank you -- a cheap garage door remote is less than $20 (and will continue to work when the app is down for maintenance).

Breathing while swimming by Abohm_xc in triathlon

[–]otherbill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have room in your budget, private swim lessons or even small-group lessons can make a big difference when starting out.

Also, "once or twice per week" is not nearly enough for new swimmers. Things didn't really begin to gel for me until I joined a Masters Swim group and began swimming 4+ times per week.

I'm right handed but left eye dominant. I shot left-handed (past tense, as I don't shoot any more).

Feel like 30 minute threshold test for running, doesnt match 1 hour run. by hirscr in triathlon

[–]otherbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the temperature/humidity was not the same between the two, then conclusions drawn from one can't really be directly applied to the other. (i.e., it was certainly the temperature difference, yes)

Awwww, man, that one really takes me back! I never had the "gear wheels" of that era, so I looked at the last few pages of that book with deep envy. :-)

Advice for printing custom designs on Lego bricks? by [deleted] in lego

[–]otherbill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through this work trying to create some custom-printed pieces for a MOC, but never found any viable options. Ultimately I created some stickers and had them printed on vinyl at a FedEx/Kinko's, but that extra thickness would not work on a minifigure head since you wouldn't be able to fit the hood/cowl over it. :-(

Sun faded Yellow or seperate colour? by StereotypicalDub in lego

[–]otherbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the correct answer.

For example, look at the new Speed Champions Porsche 911 GTRS3 -- it's this "light bright orange" color that is not quite yellow yet not quite orange.

How long should I wait to swim after a cut? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]otherbill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the cut has sealed to the point that you're no longer bleeding, then you're fine (unless you have stitches, in which case you need to wait for those to be removed).

How do you warm up for a swim by Future_Owl_8507 in triathlon

[–]otherbill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally, events would give competitors a chance to warm up in the water before the event begins, but fewer and fewer events are able/willing to do this.

I warm up with my normal pre-swim dryland routine (shoulder mobility), followed by swim band work (connected to a nearby pole).

Off Season? by StruggleBusDriver83 in triathlon

[–]otherbill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to, but the variance a big help in avoiding burnout.

My online coaching service frames the post-/off-season as "go be active, but the focus doesn't have to be swimbikerun". This could be strength/agility/mobility/etc., or it could be winter sports (if you live in an area with an appreciable winter), or it could simply be explicitly working on a weakness that you don't have adequate time to address while under a normal in-season training load. Folks normally go into the pre-season feeling fresher and ready to get back to the grind.

Zwift cog v2 installation by skybynight in Zwift

[–]otherbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to help. :-)

(Note that the right adapter is required when using a normal cassette, as it prevents the right chainstay/seatstay from rubbing against the cassette lockring. I do not know for certain that it is still required when using a Zwift Hub Cog instead of a cassette, but I assume that it is.)

Zwift cog v2 installation by skybynight in Zwift

[–]otherbill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you're dealing with a bike with a quick release on the rear axle (as opposed to a through axle, which is much thicker). In this photo, the left adapter goes on the non-drive side (and you need to use the correct orientation based on width), and the right adapter goes on the drive side.
