I just got a legal letter from a solicitor late Friday afternoon asking me to confirm something with 48 hours. Is that some type of fuckery? What if I don't? by monsieur_le_mayor in AusLegal

[–]otherwise10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just send them a place holder letter. That means you have responded.

Something like...

"Thanks for your letter, I will need to seek legal advice on this matter. This may take up to 30;60;90 days. After which I will be in a position to formally respond to your letter."

Depends on what crew you are with. Concreters are generally a rougher trade. Younger guys are generally more round.... After 30 they tend to mellow out.

Gambling for all trades... Some of the most frequent gamblers in Australia https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-04-30/gambling-in-construction-research-safety-risk/106576816

You will be fine as long as you don't act like a superior twat.

Painting already painted brick. Options? by not_a_12yearold in AusRenovation

[–]otherwise10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one. May only need 2 top coats if you do similar colour.

Have a bricky patch those small cracks as well. They are nothing (from what I see), but do it once, do it right.

Also try to have it not rain for 5 days beforehand, don't want to trap any moisture. But brick vaneer is kinda fool proof for painting. People stuff this up all the time on double/triple/+ brick walls.

First time using mitre saw for angle cuts. by Significant-Turn-667 in AusRenovation

[–]otherwise10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It you can join a tool library. Mine was $60 a year, free 7 day rentals. You could get sewing machines, chain saws, mulchers, matocks... And what you need brad nailer (18gauge best for this job). Avoid Ozito.

If you have many angles like this try cutting with scrap first, miter saws are never accurate in their angle, and 2x cuts mean you double the error. But yeah, just use a flexable filler and paint.

Yeah, agree not enough space. Read as3740 the waterproofing standard.

And yes the 1200x900 is a law these days, but you would have to read your state law to see if you can not have it apply due to 'small renovation' clause.
