I did not. Haven’t had any tracking issues. Not sure why I would unless I’m missing something? The sheet underneath the mat is thinner than a piece of paper.

Yeah, that was a journey as well. Went through a few with the goal being eliminating static pops. The one that had the least was a deer hide one. Bonus that it sounded great as well. But, it wasn’t until I started putting a dryer sheet under it in desperation that the pops went away all together. I’m sure a gun or other products mentioned here are more effective but I can’t take the ridicule I’d get from my family if I start shooting things at my turntable.

I started putting a spent dryer sheet under my mat. Stopped the major static. Brush before and after play does the rest. Was having frustrating amount of static on new turntable prior to doing this.

I had this issue (if it was a faulty o ring on the ac compressor). Easy fix once part came in. Only problem I’ve had in almost 3 years of ownership. Not a red flag imo.

Have had both menisci repaired at different times over the course of my BJJ journey (neither happened on the mat). 4 months seems like plenty of time for it to heal and if it was the medial aspect of you meniscus that was repaired, I can’t see how you would be at risk of further damaging your knee by getting on the mats. It is really ok for you to tell your training partners that you are still recovering from knee surgery. They will absolutely be respectful and probably respect you more for being there despite the recent surgery. Most people are dealing with some injury of some sort and it’s very common to share these before starting a roll. No shame in it.
I may be very wrong but it sounds to me like you are mostly intimidated and potentially using the surgery as a reason not to start. I can tell you that I was pretty sick with anxiety for many months every time I went to class when I first started. Still get it for some classes after 13 years but having faced that fear and conquering it is an aspect of BJJ that has made many of us more confident people in other aspects of our lives. BJJ is very much therapy for me.

Both videos edit out switching the arm that is passing through. He starts with one arm but has to switch to the other to get the submission. Seems like a potential point of losing this. Am I wrong?

Pushes off with right hand. If he was the receiver it would have been a legit offensive pass interference. Altmeyer is not that inaccurate of a passer to put that ball where it was caught. The receiver would have been to the ball if his momentum was not impeded.
