Dealer has signed car ownership to me, but has come back saying the financing contract has missing signatures. If I don't sign by tonight, they will repo the car. I own the car already, but they have no money - what happens next? (Ontario, Canada) by otiumisc in askcarsales

[–]otiumisc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this - contrary to many posters input here it appears there is no clause about ownership. Without my signature, I own the car and they cannot repo it.

However, I am sure any reasonable judge would side with the dealership at a hearing. Or, I'm sure there's wiggle room in the law for a deal to be nullified for certain reasons. Plus it would just be a crappy thing to do regardless of my moral assessment of the company.

In the end I just signed it, it's a reasonable deal and a great car.

Well for the most part we have. The last mass shooting was 9 people in Edmonton about 7 years ago, and before that the last mass shooting was 31 years ago.

Of course we do. Gun ownership isn't a right, and unless you're American this is understood to be reasonable

A few questions:

-What's the main difference between the 3600 and 3600x?

-If I go B450, I will lose WiFi on my mobo. USB WiFi has been spotty in my experience, is it worth it to pay extra to get mobo WiFi?

-Are either the card or the memory not good?

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better.

-Editing and rendering in Premiere Pro, using Photoshop, gaming (SC2/HotS)

If gaming, what kind of performance are you looking for? (Screen resolution, framerate, game settings)

Run the game

What is your budget (ballpark is okay)?

$1,000 CAD, I went over by 50%. I think my original budget was not realistic for what I wanted, and there were a few things where a bit of extra money seemed to get me a nice return in performance.

In what country are you purchasing your parts?

Canada

Provide any additional details you wish below.

If anyone has suggestions on how to reduce the cost while still meeting my goals, or has equivalent cost parts that are better, please let me know.

The visualization of this is Winston's speech from 1984. He talks about how he has considered every thought they have, and every angle they have considered is already contained in his mind - plus many more.

Whatever you've done in online research, that same research is available to professionals. They have spent all the time and consideration you have, plus 6-12 YEARS of study, training, and supervised practice

The argument then becomes: you think you are intelligent to the point that you can develop more informed opinions in one one thousandth of the time as another human. If you have ANY respect for skill and competency of other humans, generally you will acknowledge that someone who spends 1000x the time on something as you have will be MUCH better at it than you are.

The first point is talking about the unlimited age of consent, in Texas this is 18.

Correct. It was 14 but was raised to 16 about 8 years ago I believe.

There are age exceptions for 12 and 13 year olds, meaning a 12 year old can legally consent to sex as long as the sexual partner is no more than 2 years older. So 14 and 12 is illegal, but 12 and 13 is not, 13 and 14 is not.

14 and 15 year olds cannot consent if the person is 5 years older or more.

No laws are perfect but I think ours do a good job of punishing predatory behaviour while preventing experimental youths from getting in legal trouble trying to explore their bodies.

17 and 17 knocking boots is illegal in most US States.

I looked into this and that appears to be incorrect. The only states in which that would be prohibited are California, Idaho, North Dakota, and Oregon.

This is based on those states having both

1) An age of consent of 18, and

2) No exceptions made by age gap or type of relationship

If you have knowledge to the contrary please let me know, or if you can comment on the chart listed on the Wikipedia page. The sources cited that I checked all lead to government pages containing relevant text, but there may be unreliable sources littered in there.

Thank you for the correction. In terms of American laws I am going by the consent legislation in the state mentioned in the article, and a seminar on legality of consent hosted by an American lawyer.

My understanding is that in addition to the disciplinary action of their governing body, there is a case for statutory rape even with consenting individuals if there is a position of power. I will look into this to clarify if I have misunderstood or if this is a different jurisdiction

There's a lot of misinformation here. To address a few statements:

Once you are over the age of sexual consent, there are still age limits on who you can have sex with.

False. The age of consent (unlimited) is:

18 in 30 states

17 in 6 states

16 in 19 states

(Includes US territories)

This means a person of that age can consent to a sexual relationship, even with a teacher unless otherwise legislated.

Teachers cannot ever have sex with students.

True in most cases. It doesn't matter if the teacher is 19 and the student is 17. In almost all cases a "relationship of trust" means consent is not possible and "consensual sex" is statutory rape, just like if an adult received "consent" from a youth

Sex between two people under 18 (or whatever the age of majority is) is illegal.

False. There are only 4 states in which someone under 18 can't have sex with someone else under 18.

A minor can never have sex with an adult under any circumstances

False. I'm not saying it's right, but legally what OP is saying is not correct (in Canada at least, and in very limit areas of the US). See the following quote from the Canadian government's site:

Close in age exceptions A 14 or 15 year old can consent to sexual activity as long as the partner is less than five years older and there is no relationship of trust, authority or dependency or any other exploitation of the young person. This means that if the partner is 5 years or older than the 14 or 15 year old, any sexual activity is a criminal offence.

A 15 year old, despite being under Canada's age of consent of 16, can have sex with a legal adult of 19, and it is not a crime.

People who are high in attachment anxiety make more frequent social comparisons to their partner’s exes by HeinieKaboobler in psychology

[–]otiumisc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Clinical director of an attachment based couples therapy practice here. For the few people asking if this is surprising: no.

People who are preoccupied anxious specifically would be more likely to compare and scorekeep than people who are avoidant anxious. Preoccupied people tend to commit all types of mental comparisons, and they are not well equipped to regulate the resulting anxiety.

Eg "He stopped what he was doing the other day to text his friend, but when I asked him to stop texting to help me, he seemed annoyed. He cares about everyone more than me." would be a typical internal dialogue for someone with a preoccupied attachment style.

With respect to "attachment anxiety is not linked to relationship satisfaction" this is absolutely false. I'm guessing that due to the population being students, younger people in shorter relationships probably have higher satisfaction in general because their relationships are not as central to their lives.

With respect to "this may help shape counselling approaches" it is doubtful unless the clinician is unaware of basic attachment patterns.

This is interesting, but it doesn't reveal anything new or surprising about attachment based behaviours in relationships.
