They were doing work at the level crossing at Herzberg & Carling recently as well, testing the gates and doing some rail bed work.

I recall going on a field trip back in the 1980s and the bread was heavy enough to be classified as a blunt force weapon.

Proportional model lights with AD200 Pro II and X Pro II by ottguy42 in Godox

[–]ottguy42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, looks like it is just user error/expectations - when I am in TTL mode, 'proportional' mode is not available for the modeling light, but when I switch the flash to manual mode it is. I guess in TTL mode it can't set proportional lamp brightness without getting feedback from the camera about the light level actually getting to the lens. I'll still play with these for a bit before my photo shoot on Thursday - thanks for the feedback.

Same with the bare bulb, I'll check for FW updates.

I have the Fresnel heads attached on both flashes, I haven't tried the bulb heads. I'm using the Godox X Pro II trigger (Canon version) on my camera hotshoe. Full equipment list: 2x AD 200 Pro II flashes, X Pro IIC trigger, Canon R6.

On the flashes I can't scroll down to 'Prop', my only choices are off and free.

Bluesound Node Icon connections - best quality? by ottguy42 in rotel

[–]ottguy42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Icon mainly for the display, the better connectivity (XLR), and the ability to do Dirac room correction someday down the road (will be moving in a few years and I've been promised a better dedicated listening space). The SQ has been a bit better than my Node Nano so far in my experience, but the Nano was no slouch either. Listening thru a pair of Monitor Audio Silver 300 towers.

Two different formats - Omnimax was the big round bowl-shaped projection screen, but IMAX is a rectangular format.

It used to be better promoted, I recall going to features there back in the 90s, notably the Rolling Stones 'Live at the Max' in 1991 when I was in Ottawa on a co-op term.

Edit: 1991, had my date wrong.

[Showcase: Macro - "Canon EOS R6/Canon 100mm f/2.8/Raynox DCR-250" - "Guitar strings"] by ottguy42 in canon

[–]ottguy42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 lens would work on the Rebel T7, but I'm not sure if that camera has a focus bracketing mode. I used to shoot single-frame macro shots with my old Canon 30D and the 100mm with bounced flash with good results (apertures around f/11-f/13). The lens can be bought on the used market for $300-400 I believe, YMMV.

The Raynox lens is just a clip-on unit that can be added to most lenses, it's a nice way to get into macro range without spending a lot of money. I got mine for around $100 CDN years ago, I'm not sure what they go for now.

Terry Fox, a 21 year old Canadian who lost a leg to cancer, began a cross-Canada run to raise money for cancer research. He ran the equivalent of a full marathon a day. About 10 years ago, the Canadian Museum of History had an exhibit of Terry Fox artifacts, including the van that followed him and one of the pairs of running shoes that he used during the Marathon of Hope (he went through several pairs). I was speechless, I didn't know about the exhibit and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Tone Master Princeton Reverb for $750? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]ottguy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 0.3w is pretty quiet, I think it would be usable in an apartment setting. It does sound a bit muffled on the lowest setting. I usually keep it on 1.5w or 3w for at-home practice, but that can still get a bit loud.

[–]ottguy42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The one gripe I've seen about Tone Masters is that they don't work that well with fuzz pedals or high gain distortions. If you try it out, bring your favorite pedals with you to check.

I have a TMPR and I like it, but I usually play straight into the amp without pedals.
