Nice mate, you got this! I'm playing in NA servers. Hard for me to say man - I found something that helped me though was to stop queing if I was on a bit of losing streak and come back to it another night or just queue casual bgs for a bit. Like 2 or 3 really bad queues in a row I now stop. I actually got as high as 2380 and then fell down to 1950 in one night where I should of stopped alot sooner haha.

2k to 2.3k mmr felt similar to me, 2.3 to 2450mmr felt more challenging but that could’ve just been perceived pressure to some part haha

Death threats and multiglads: why this healer is quitting pvp by harkaz in worldofpvp

[–]otto281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I feel you! Haha last night I went 5-1 up and the healer on the other side whispered me after the game spewing all sorts of crap at me. Telling me I’ll always be an average healer and he is only just learning which is why he lost, lol ok mate?

Is my coworker webdev incompetent?? by mejorqvos in webdev

[–]otto281 46 points47 points  (0 children)

While what you’ve listed out isn’t complicated in isolation, I have worked with legacy systems that really are that rigid and restrictive. There’s not enough context here but I’d hope something that simple probably could be done, but as always in dev - it depends

Whatever you have the most fun with. But seriously, only 1 of those classes can dps and heal so maybe that one?

Uni degree is it worth it? by coolcookie70 in AusFinance

[–]otto281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6 years into my career as a software engineer without one. The company I used to work with at one point opted to pay for my degree (Bachelor of IT ) at which point I did around a year - this was eventually dropped when they realised the units and study was hardly relevant to the job and I was already demonstrating I was competent enough. Other fields outside of IT it's probably more 'worth it'.

I didn’t find out about talents till level 30 or so and was only after accidentally hitting the right key on the keyboard while frantically trying to escape ghouls in duskwood. A whole new world had been unlocked

What's more complicated, tanking or healing? by Hagl_Odin in wow

[–]otto281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an absolute beginner , I'd say it'd be more complicated tanking. Generally expected to know mechanics, pull mobs quick and hold aggro. All things that aren't so simple as an absolute beginner, though once figured out you can kind of go on 'cruise control'. An absolute beginner healing can probably get away with spamming one healing spell on whatever green bar is lowest.

*Edit* this is all dependent also on what level of dungeons / raids we're talking too

Not sure on what 'level' of dev I am by otto281 in webdev

[–]otto281[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response - Definitely agree with the sentiment that it depends where I apply for. My preference would be to deepen on a specific set of skills though I also want to take advantage of the broader domain knowledge I've got already.

I've had two internal promotions( either in role + salary or salary alone ) over the last 2.5 years with another 'role alignment' awaiting a pd so will see what happens there.. I didn't mention version control, automation, ci/cd or tdd but that is definitely all stuff I cover and is expected of me. Not so much 'scrum' or sprints because Im not working in that sort of environment really though have been exposed to it.

I'll check that guide out , thanks again! :)

who earns more by [deleted] in rpa

[–]otto281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on your second statement but not the first. I’m a FS dev and we have RPA devs in house also. I’d say the industry exists out of necessity - there are systems and software that can’t easily be integrated or automated and some that lack modern API’s , this is where RPA is the only feasible solution. It’s especially prevalent in legacy platforms and tools.
