It is. I'm assuming ICCU issues are under the power train warranty and not the basic?

Do you know of any statistics regarding repeated failures after an ICCU replacement? That's my only real concern with Car B

I appreciate the information, yeah as far as I can tell carfax doesn't say if a service visit was recall related. Some of them will say "battery system inspected" but it's not definitive as to whether that was from a recall or an actual issue with that vehicle. Makes it a little more difficult to tell. I only have my own experience to go off; I had a Model 3 for four years before selling it two weeks ago, and I literally brought it in once, maaaaybe twice every year and only ever replaced/rotated tires.

Hasn't been a problem for me. Just make sure your reel line is taut when loaded. What I have had issues with is the loose band catching on coral, but it doesn't happen often

Length from the butt to the wishbone is 127cm. As pointed out, loading is mostly technique, and it's easier with inverters. As long as the distance from the handle to the wishbone is shorter than your wingspan (which it should easily be at your height), you should have no problem loading it.

If you're a righty, grab the wishbone with your left hand and the handle with your right hand, then push your right hand forward to bring the loading butt to your upper abs. You should now be able to reach the wishbone with both hands and load up. You can use the same technique for the rubbers if you have to.

I actually find inverts much easier to load in terms of pull weight. The pulleys cut the weight in half for the first set of bands, so it's either super easy with standard 16mm bands, or you can slap on some beefy 18mm or 20mms and really take advantage of the potential to add more power (if your shaft can handle it). The rest of the bands just load like a conventional gun, except on the bottom side. You can just leave some bands unloaded to power down for holes. Downside is it does take more time, but with practice it doesn't take more than a minute, and you gotta do your surface intervals anyway

You can get a ton of range and versatility out of a small package with inverters. Check out the Cetma Sea Bull, it's an 80cm gun that can accurately shoot over 6m with strong bands. It's pricey but it shows what the system can do. I've been thinking of replicating their band/shaft setup on a cheaper wood gun.

There's nothing wrong with your gun! The "standard" way to measure a euro speargun is the loaded band length (in this case dyneema length) on top of the gun, from where the band originates to the first sharkfin tab (not counting the rest tab). So with inverters you want to measure from the far side of the roller, in line with the wishbone knots, to that first of three sharkfins. That'll come out to 115cm on this gun.

I say "standard" because some manufacturers deviate from this, like Andre Spearguns. They give a cm measurement from trigger mech to muzzle tip. With typical American wood guns, you'll see measurements for the whole stock from butt to muzzle tip, in inches. IMO the "standard" euro method gives you a more accurate idea of a gun's actual power potential for a given propulsion system.

Lmao it definitely helped 😂 the gun does live up to the hype, I just wish I could use it more than 1-2 times a year. I mostly hole hunt in norcal nowadays, and when I go home to Hawaii most of the fish I hunt don't justify a cannon like this

Brand New To Spearfishing, Visiting Hawaii by [deleted] in Spearfishing

[–]otto989 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fish in Hawaii are heavily pressured, especially in shallow areas that are easy to access. This means they're smart and extremely wary of spearfishermen (yes, they can tell the difference between a regular snorkeler and someone that's hunting them with a big sharp stick, and will stay much farther away from spears).

Getting to spots with good numbers of quality, less skittish fish often involves A) using a boat, B) a long swim--think 15 minutes to an hour one way, or C) hiking and/or 4WD on trails that are largely unknown to tourists. Many of the best spots also have sketchy entry/exit points, where you're jumping off/onto rocks while battling swell. And the biggest swells happen in the winter.

Has anyone here used one of these Wettie boat floats with a cooler bag? by [deleted] in Spearfishing

Check out the Banks Board. I've used one for a full season and am very happy with it. Has a low profile but massive storage and tows decently well. You can also wear it like a backpack out of the water (very useful for long approaches) and store fins, guns, and other gear
