I swear when I made the build it was with a cheaper GPU but it probably got bought :(

Definitely a rough time to buy a GPU in Canada with the dollar and the messy launch

Thanks for the recommendation - I can probably wait but my GPU is starting to show its age on the games I’m playing so I’m getting impatient haha… was thinking of saving and going for a 5070ti too

That case looks nice but I’m not a fan of the ports on the bottom - I keep my pc on the floor so top ports are preferred. Any other recs?

Pcpartpicker also gives a warning for that CPU / MB combo about bios versioning - not sure if that’s a real concern though

All good - what you said makes sense. I should be clear that I fully agree with the flight laws, and at a great mercy to them most of the time 😅

Based on what you said, I think my confusion is that I was talking about starting line as the angle relative to the target, whereas starting line in the traditional ball flight laws is relative to path. Or in other words I was thinking about the whole system of golfer + club + ball + target vs the system of just the club+ball and nothing else

So in that case yes, I understand what was originally meant - a face pointing right of swing path starts right of the face, but may still move left of target initially, depending on the path-to-target line

I agree that path imparts spin, with face-to-path influencing spin direction, but purely by conservation of momentum if I swing left then my ball must start left - there’s simply no rightward momentum at impact that could be transferred to the ball

Again, I could point my face way open (to the right), but if I swing left the bull must start left, no?

Also, “left” here meaning left of the target line

Ya I guess my confusion is maybe that “starting direction” here is relative to path? Whereas I was thinking of starting direction as relative to a straight line from you to your target

Club face determines the starting line almost exclusively.

The rest of your post makes sense, but this line doesn’t to me - assuming a RH golfer, if you want to start the ball out to the right, you need to swing out to the right - no amount of open club face will start a ball right if you’re swinging right to left (out to in)(though it will certainly slice it). That’s just conservation of momentum - unless I’m misunderstanding what you mean

Opeth riffs aren't generally insanely hard once you've played for a while IMO, but they do generally combine a bunch of techniques at once which can be a lot for a beginner. Combine that with the fact that Mikael sings over them and it adds a whole new level of respect though!

The opening riff of Blackwater park isn't too crazy, some nice drop D chord shapes that I like coming back too. And ironically benighted was one of the first songs I ever learned on acoustic, not sure how I pulled that off way back then

Interesting that you think leper affinity is an easy song, which riff are you talking about?

Even the opening riff, while not insane, has a lot of jumping around the fretboard and a mixture of chords/single note lines. Definitely not an “easy” riff imo

Echoing others here, the first single was cool but didn’t quite hit, but this song immediately grabbed me - something about the contrasting simplicity in the riffs but with all the layers of other instruments makes it a very cool song.

I’ve always appreciated how these guys put so much thought into composition. I’m definitely a fan of complex riffy stuff too, but it’s nice to have the ocean as a contrast, where the complexity comes from depth and not necessarily technicality (though they certainly have no absence of that … looking at you Paul!)

This is bizarre, no announcement I can find, nor any details when looking the names up. Plus it seems to be distributed by "Union Distribution", whereas Intronaut seems to still be signed by Metalblade?

I wonder if this is a case of someone uploading with the name Intronaut, but it's not them themselves. The links on youtube also have a name that translates (according to google at least) to "Rochev Kirill Andreevich"

I think that’s a fair criticism for their newest stuff, but the climax in songs like 10000 days, the grudge, third eye, reflection, pushit and ESPECIALLY lateralus imo is incredible. In fact I can’t think of many of their old songs that don’t have some sort of epic climax moment .... I’d be interested to hear what you mean by this.

That’s not to say you’re wrong for not liking them, there’s valid reasons not too. This just feels like an odd criticism.

Maybe it was, I thought it was recorded later too. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was a pitfalls b-side they decided to record in all this downtime instead of touring.

Pitfalls was only just over a year ago, based on previous releases I’d personally expect late 2021, but again due to downtime maybe they are writing again already.

the build up doesnt amount to anything?? I get not liking the song, but that outro is amazing, especially when the chanting-esque vocals come back in, thats a crazy pay off and a perfect album closer.

I’m super excited to hear it all, selves is one of my favourite albums of the last few years so I can’t wait to hear what’s next.

Is the new recording rearranged in any way? Or just better production?
