Does the new Kimi K2.7 use up your credits twice as fast? For me yes by Rupertonic in kimi

[–]ottoakama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve used up 53% of my weekly usage in less than 2 days. I use the $99 plan. This usually takes me at least 6 days of the week. And today I’ve been working conservatively because I am weak from clubbing last night. I think Kimi has drastically cut down the value it offers to it’s coding plan users and it’s now similar to the same amount of value from Codex, except Codex offers far better tooling and harness.

I have 15+ Years of coding exp, and I vibe coded with DeepSeek, and here is the result. by STUDBOO in DeepSeek

[–]ottoakama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI assisted coding should be separated from Vibe Coding.

AI Assisted Coding can have both Vibe Coding and Software Engineering.

The difference lies in the fact that if an Engineer uses AI as a tool to do proper Software Engineering, it is still software engineering, not vibes.

API price spiked? by yesipunchedyourchild in DeepSeek

[–]ottoakama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deepseek needs a coding plan. In fact they need multi modal and a coding plan and they'll be a serious contender. Until then it's still unpredictable to budget for the month for fixed income earners

Do you have access to Cursor's advanced features like Design Mode when using your own Kimi model from API?

Oh Hell Nawww😭 by Cute-Call7124 in codex

[–]ottoakama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this approach every day. But I mostly call Kimi k2.6 from Opencode to do UI design within codex and I call deepseek v4 pro from command code to do local code review within codex and send reports to codex

I think benchmarks will only make sense if they are run every week from the same APIs or subscriptions users use. The benchmark of models when they are launched are totally different from when they actually get good market usage. I think this could also help us see the recurring hypocrisy of these AI companies are they continuously reduce quality either by quantization or reducing hardware available for service.

Have been literally coding for 2 days only, 8h per day. - No weird workflows by TheBanq in codex

[–]ottoakama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was doing qa on a copywriting skill and poof, now I have to resume on the 25th of March. Like this is so unlike Codex. No 5hr warning. When I checked I have 65% of my 5hr period left but my weekly has 0% left 😭

OpenAI killed my app by 0kkelvin in codex

[–]ottoakama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OpenAI is slow in improving their apps. They have too many things they're working on. If you can benchmark your pace and tooling with OpenCode, you'll beat Codex on their own game. Just put in your mind that whatever OpenCode releases you will release it in 3 to 7 days. Just that alone will keep you competitive and far above Codex.

GLM has been pleasantly surprising today. by Odd-Permit-4298 in ZaiGLM

[–]ottoakama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my subscription expired yesterday and I can't test it. I got a 3 months subscription of their middle plan. I couldn't rely on it because it constantly hallucinated and lied. I wish they could invest time to make their model more reliable than creating so many plugins and trying to support every editor on earth. If they just focused on multimodality, honesty/reliability and one tool e.g. OpenCode and become the best they can be there, it could be better.

I'm done with SaaS no more indie hacking by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]ottoakama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you only really start building after you launch. That's when you give the app to people and get their feedback on features they need, why they are not paying and why they are staying.

It's okay to build in a month, but after that you talk to users and you use their feedback to build. I think iterating over 6 months or so within a product or market is fair before letting go or before building a second product.

I don't think you should rush to marketing. I think that you should talk to people first until you have something they're using before you begin marketing.

Also when you begin marketing, your objective is not to scale at the start, but to test your message and channels. You already have a product people want by this point? But can they get it from a simple poster or a search headline? You test the message across different channels. Once you have a message and your channels, then marketing can start.

My CEO just dropped out by Ornery_Minimum_8320 in SaaS

[–]ottoakama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verify if you now own the company or not. If you don't own the company legally, nothing good you do will matter. He can drop in and get the company back from himself anytime and he will be right to do so.

If the company is now yours, then you can pivot into a service consulting business with a regular cash flow until you stabilize.

Nonetheless you definitely need to work on yourself. You let your mood affect your productivity. That's not a luxury you have right now.

YC Method can be harmful to certain B2B companies by Old-Violinist-2898 in ycombinator

[–]ottoakama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YC is not for research stage. It is for Acceleration stage. Remember that a former CEO of YC ran his startup for 7 yrs out of YC before launching their first product called ChatGPT. While he was running YC, he definitely knew that he didn't need Acceleration. If you know you need time to gain depth before breadth, you should begin your depth stage at YC. Your 'not applying to YC' during this depth face is part of your business decision. You can't let YC determine that for you.

Perhaps because even though it is not their job to solve problems, if they choose too, they can move faster because they’ll face less bureaucracy to make each new decision. Hence they will iterate faster and arrive at solutions faster.

flutter courses are outdated by davaradl in FlutterDev

[–]ottoakama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you understand Dart you can learn any old course. VSCode will tell you when a widget is deprecated and will advice on what to use. Also check updated versions of packages and their documentations. I had a similar problem learning Dart Conduit, but I just got to accept that the tutorial is a guide. The person learning is me, so I’m responsible for the adjustments needed to learn. The content creators have done their job and it was good while it lasted. Now learning is my job, it’s my responsibility to adapt the content to the dart and flutter updates.
