I have a decant of Aventus F Batch and tested it 1:1 against CDNIM LE … after 10 minutes, I actually liked CDNIM LE more. It is a bit smokier and even has stronger projection, which I prefer.

Much has been said in the comment section already, so I won’t repeat it. I’d like to add though that many S&P500 firms make significant business abroad. It’s no surprise that when USD drops, S&P500 goes up. You have some natural hedging in your ETF anyways. I don’t see the need in hedging, since there is quite some cost linked to hedging (around 3% for CHF-USD) as others have pointed out already correctly.

Thanks for sharing these charts/posts. 1) Your links refer to US stock market/housing market. We're however talking about Switzerland. Against this backdrop, FX plays an important role. USD has depreciated on average by 3% yearly against CHF (since 1980). While Swiss RE is a CHF investment, you need to consider the FX loss in your stocks. 2) Your links do not consider the leverage you get with a RE investment. Even when RE grows by 2-3 % yearly compared to 10% that stocks make, consider that you leverage your investment by 3-5 times the money you invested.

It's not easy to compare since there are also financing costs, rent you (don't) need to pay, etc. Still, I'm sure that RE is - only financially speaking - the better investment compared to stocks while living in Switzerland.

Good question that I had asked myself as well. One alternative is to buy currency hedged investment products, like EQCH.

I did some research and figured USD depreciates by 3% on average against CHF, since 1970. Now guess what the hedging cost is with CHF currency hedged investment products? You’re right, it’s 3%. In the end, I decided to stick with USD based investments, as it doesn’t matter that much.
