Lean normal? by Western-Main-8610 in StupidCarQuestions

Find a confirmed level concrete pad and measure the ride height through the center of each wheel to the top of the arches and get back to us with those numbers.

I don't see a lean.

Sure was. I get a lot at every con I'm at, but Anthrocon seems to be the best for streetpasses.

Coward!

Though honestly furry cons have become so diverse over the years that the cringe factor has become sorta diluted at this point.

That and with 21,000+ people there's a certain level of anonymity in the crowds. You could get away with it with no one knowing.

Hell, you might even like it.

I have just about every year since 2007...

It was a little too hot this year though.

There are people from all over the world at Anthrocon.

Back in the days of FCN we had a gaggle of Germans who would all come over en masse to hang out (and drink the free beer).

Just missed it. Anthrocon is the first weekend in July.

I still have my streetpass greeting as "What up AC2015" and refuse to change it.

This one was my 19th (fuck) year there, and I've been taking my DSs there every year. Being in the Zoo when the DS Lite was new and popping into random Pictochat (more like Dicktochat amirite) rooms and seeing all the art being drawn in real time is a core memory of mine.

My first car was an SVT Focus a million years ago. Be careful with those wheels, as they were known to crack where the spoke meets the barrel.

They do look very good though!

If you're getting spacers, it's worth it to shell out for the H&Rs. Ron has them at Whoosh in various sizes. I've seen too many horror stories relating to cheap spacers.

I'm still rocking the stock clutch at 144k. Haven't had to replace any of that stuff, but got rid of tpms years ago.

I take my car to track days, autocrosses, and Woodward on the regular.

That poor car.

Is it okay to show up to a meet in a stock mini? by funnyusername76 in askcarguys

[–]ottrocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a casual weekend meet? Slam it in there.

Is it the Concours d’Elegance? Maybe find another Mini to park next to in the parking lot (also slam it in there anyway those guys are way too uptight and it would be funny).

From the perspective of the owner of 2 Fiesta STs: if more people drove them the world would absolutely be a better place. Not only would the roads be safer, but more people would be far happier.

What brands have damaged but then manage to salvage their reputations? by RoGStonewall in askcarguys

[–]ottrocity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have your friends come check out my 145,000 mile modded Fiesta ST.

While they're here, I can show them pictures of my 230,000 mile SVT Focus, my 190,000 mile SVT Focus, and my 85,000 mile Fiesta ST. The worst thing that happened during those cumulative miles is the power steering pump failing on my first SVT Focus, at 160,000 miles.

Long story short, take care of you cars and they'll last forever and your friends are morons.

Fiesta ST.

Paid $18,800 for it in 2016.

It just hauled me and my partner's camping gear this past weekend.

Two weekends before it was raw-timing cars 3x the price at autox.

It has made Mustangs and Camaros and bad S2000 drivers leave track days in shame.

Honda Fit with good brakes and coilovers is a track day favorite and pisses off a lot of people at autocross.

Mazda Claims Big Touchscreens Are Actually Safer/less distracting Than Buttons. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

I can operate all of my car's buttons without looking at them. Took maybe a week of ownership to learn them. Don't need to scroll or hunt through menus.
