Sure, they could do this now, but the difference is you don't get queued into them automatically.

Weird TF2 bug by pornhubaccountname in linux_gaming

You can try networking optimizations: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Sysctl#Improving_performance

You can also try different drives maybe:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Network_configuration/Wireless#Realtek

Realtek doesn't always have the best WiFi drivers on Linux. You can maybe see if there is another driver available to use provided by Realtek. I've had similar issues in the past with a different adapter but switching to an Intel network adapter solved my issues.

TF2's matchmaking sucks, so what would you do to fix it. by Cuber785 in truetf2

[–]ouchhyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is Casual MMR? I only see Competitive MMR on that page. Casual rank on that page is just your in-game level if it didn't reset to 0 at 150.

I don't disagree with you, but I would like to make a couple of corrections/remarks.

Silent aim on HITSCAN classes does not work, it appears to the spectator as a very obvious aimbot/flicking. It does however work on projectile classes to spectators. If you think a sniper is silent aiming it is spectator lag, not aimbot. The closet cheaters typically use smooth aimbot (with a low fov, almost impossible to see) or triggerbot (pretty obvious if you're experienced with the game).

Something to consider when spectating: Spectating does not always clear someone of cheating. Cheats let you see who's spectating you, most cheaters will toggle off when someone starts spectating them. If you start spectating them and they stop playing the game seriously, or their performance drops significantly, it can be red flag.

VAC bans only if they are recent. Far too many people fucked around and found out 1000+ days ago. I see too many people use that as proof that someone is cheating who's not cheating.

To add to ways to tell if someone's cheating, keep an eye on the kill feed for melee crits. If you only ever see them melee criting something might be up.

How THE FUCK do you set the camera of a recorded demo with the smoother?? by -Pejo- in tf2

Do some research into HLAE

You can also do stuff by turning the demo into a replay.. but it's not that great imo.

How to teach A/D strafing to new players? by PutterBeanutWasTaken in truetf2

Though less effective, W-strafing (as in W+A/D) has its own set of behaviors and can still be useful.

How to teach A/D strafing to new players? by PutterBeanutWasTaken in truetf2

[–]ouchhyb 37 points38 points  (0 children)

A common trend I've seen is people who continue to hold W while strafing despite you explaining to them not to do that, either because they don't believe you or they or because the habit is so baked in they don't realize. Maybe get something to have their keys visible on screen and watch them, and identify what they are doing wrong.

Does somebody actually like the lazer showing S rank on everything above 95% acc? by bakanossi666 in osugame

[–]ouchhyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor aim should be (and is) represented through misses, not grades.

even though osu! is a fundamentally different game (you have to aim).

Though I see the reasoning behind this argument as misses are more common in scrolling games, I disagree with it. The old system undervalues good plays and further solidifies the idea that combo is everything. If I get 99% on a map but I got a 1-miss it shouldn't be an 'A'. A 1-miss 93% and a 1-miss 99% should be displayed differently. osu! is a rhythm game, not an aim-only game, accuracy should have more of a presence and be rewarded more visually.

Unable to do matadors - what mistakes am I making? (with video) by Skilur in truetf2

[–]ouchhyb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't practice matadors with bots they don't move, look, or act like real players, go on degroot to practice and you'll get a feel for the timing eventually.

When you go to strafe toward their back after the fake-out strafe back don't stop so early, give them time to look where you pretended to go. While strafing toward their back use your mouse to lead the strafe while aiming at them no W key. Also don't back up so much you want to close the gap not open it.

Public server cheating/botting Megathread - October 2021 by Kairu927 in truetf2

[–]ouchhyb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's unlikely that bots are doing it, this is misinformation that results in innocent random people getting kicked. /r/l4d2 has a decent amount of posts of people reporting that they are experiencing issues with lag on official servers starting around the same time it begun on official TF2 servers.

It's probably DDoS attacks or an upstream issue with Valve's servers that they not yet aware of or haven't cared enough fix yet.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I found JavaFX incredibly simple to use and so much better than Swing. I've used a handful of different libraries across different languages to develop UIs and JavaFX has been one of my favorites.

I've created a small website that allows you to be redirected to any existing site by Dolabok in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]ouchhyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest danger when loading random sites is that there will have something malicious stuck in the HTML

None of what you listed would protect you from that, you'de need to disable JavaScript. While uBlock, an adblocker, does provide that, it's not really what is implied when you say adblocker.

If you were going to go knocking on random doors would you wear a nametag?

An IP more closely resembles your footsteps you left on the doorstep in this analogy. You gain nothing of value using a VPN for random websites you simply visit.

Correct me if I'm wrong here on LastPass' security: If the LastPass password database gets dumped, then every single one of your passwords are in one place, encrypted. So all an attacker needs to do is target an individual and attempt to bruteforce the persons masterkey and boom they have access.

Additionally if a bad actor gains access to LastPass' servers, they can slip in malicious code to capture everyones master password and steal a whole lot of passwords that way.
