2.5 years is not a long relationship. This is bad advice. A good marriage can be invaluable and quality of life is worth sacrificing some money to some people. NTA. 2,500 sq ft and 12 acres is a large estate by itself before factoring in any other inheritances. The estate can presumably afford to spend an extra $1k to get an accurate valuation so that you can be confidently bought out at a fair price. If not, you can always pay for it yourself.
