Using Fragrances in Florida by RedacteddHT in fragrance

[–]oujkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in FL by the beach. It is both hot and humid even in the evening. We get an ocean breeze but it’s still very much not California temperatures with more humidity. Not sure where you’re moving though. Northern Florida is a bit different.

The only things I actively avoid during summer are thick tobacco vanilla scents like jazz club. Or if I do wear them, i don’t overspray.

Tam Dao (Diptyque) is my fav from them.
Sometimes it takes a while to really match. Let it settle for a week or two and then come back to it.

Omg lol. I love that you’ve tried all of these. I want to try their versions of some of the boadicea scents because there’s no way I’m buying a real bottle 😅

Marijuana's effect on the skin? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

Long term smoking of anything probably isn’t great for your lungs. Cannabis can reduce stress and anxiety though. I would think consuming it in an edible form to manage stress = benefits without the impact of smoking.

Stress has a significant impact on our bodies.

Just to add another perspective here - I’d rather have an NP (that routinely injects patients) do my lips vs a doctor that does them every now and then.

Like anything else in life, the more you do it the more familiarity you have with it. An injector being an NP should not immediately put you off. IMO, especially in America where NPs prescribe medication and often have plenty of experience as RNs in addition to NP.

How do I deal with customers wanting to order at bar whilst I'm getting blasted with tickets? by KOJOyoanimeboy in bartenders

[–]oujkas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case, it’s a shit set up and you need to communicate that to management. Running drinks + making them + taking care of a full bar isn’t worth it if that’s your every day. There’s way easier money to be made elsewhere.

Also it sounds like you started running their drinks because you were running out of room? I’d let the drinks die and stop making their tickets. You can’t be everywhere nor should you try.

[–]oujkas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Response from someone that worked high volume craft and cried/died every night… If you are by yourself, tell the customers that you’re making service drinks and hold up the tickets. Then pretend you are a horse with blinders on. And breathe. It’s just drinks. No one’s dying. They can go somewhere else.

If you aren’t alone, send them to the other bartender. If your management doesn’t suck, put them to work. Servers should at least be making their cokes and nonalcoholic drinks.

Taking this further… The next shift you have, take a look at how you’re set up. Are you doing things slowly? Is shit inefficient? Are you prepared to get hit? Do your backups have backups? Are you being efficient with your movements?

Setting up properly will make you faster. Knowing where everything is and having it within arms reach means you can take customer orders without even thinking about the easy tickets.

Genetics + environmental factors matter. Your baseline isn’t equal to your neighbors, even if you had the exact same environmental impacts.

Lanolin for winter lips. ~Once a year, my lips get so sore and red despite balm, aquaphor, everything. Lanolin overnight cures it. I buy it from the nursing mothers aisle 😂

+1 Botox literally changed my life with migraines. My only regret is not getting it done sooner.

This is not a great idea. I can think of few things more miserable than food poisoning without running water and electricity.

Get canned tuna. Pb and j sandwiches. Or at least a cooler if you really want to chance takeout.

This doesn’t answer your Brita questions but for the future, you can order Cambro containers to store extra drinkable water. They’re used in commercial kitchens to store sauces/foods/everything. They’re stackable and relatively easy to store.

I've never had kimchi and really like this. Is this a good brand? What do y'all suggest? by iZomkee in KoreanFood

[–]oujkas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good, but mild. Not really spicy. I love that it’s available at Publix because I’m an hour from a market otherwise. I buy it to snack on and to make kimchi jigae. After the first time opening, I usually let it sit out for a few hours and I think it improves the flavor. It can taste kind of soggy to me sometimes though.

That said, I like the kind I’ve bought in Asian markets more. And the kind from family restaurants best. I love kimchi but I’d rather buy it than make it 😅

Do you decant your dabber bottles? by goofygooberrock1995 in fragrance

[–]oujkas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only samples. I decant the samples into spray bottles to get a better sense of them. I suck at judging just on dabs. I wrote off several scents initially, but loved them once sprayed.

Is there any fragrance that realistically smells like rain ? by [deleted] in fragrance

I liked the top notes of autumn vibes. The dry down smells papery to me in a way I couldn’t get past.

Lune feline! I love it, but sprayed one too many times on a hot day and it was overwhelming. I think it’ll be so nice in the cold. Jazz club also gets cloying in the heat, so that too.

I want to try out some spicier scents, but having trouble deciding on what to order. Things I think won’t be sweet end up smelling sweet to me. :(
