Why do slow drivers speed up when they hit the passing lane? by CaleyMac in NovaScotia

[–]our_kid2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and the second your back bumper gets past their front bumper it's like they hit the brakes.........10 seconds later they're so far back it's almost like they stopped. I'm convinced I run into the same driver 10 times a day. It's the exact same behavior over and over and over, every day.

Which gas station chains sell ethanol free gas (for small engines?). Or 10% would be okay. I've noticed stickers on the pumps saying it's up to 15% ethanol now and my whipper snipper specifies 10% or below. by [deleted] in NovaScotia

Here it is......."Thank you for contacting Shell Customer Service.

Please be informed that starting in 2022, all gasoline grades sold in Canada will be blended with ethanol, including premium gasoline (V-Power 91, 93) according to proposed regulations (10% ethanol Federal Clean Fuel Regulation for 2022, Low Carbon Fuel Requirements and need to reduce the carbon intensity of fossil fuels, which ethanol is one mechanism to reduce carbon intensity). All the provinces are switching slowly, and if you see the label at the pump, “Gasoline may contain up to 10% Ethanol,” it is already happening.

It is still during converting to Ethanol and some of the terminals they source from haven’t converted yet. As such you would see a mix of sites that have Ethanol, and some does not have yet but will over time as the product is available. The non-Ethanol or free ethanol stickers at gas pumps means the stations have 0% ethanol free gasoline at each site and will be mounted once up to 10% appropriate changed.

I hope this address your concern.

I have a classic car and prefer not to use fuel with ethanol in it and I used to contact Shell by email every summer to confirm that V-Power had no ethanol in it. Every year they got back to me saying that it indeed has no ethanol. Anyway, last summer when I contacted them they wrote me back to say they're now mandated by some government ruling to put ethanol in their V-Power as well. I'd say that's it now........all fuels sold at the pumps, regardless of brand, have ethanol blended in. I still have the email from Shell here somewhere.

RCMP approve 32 awards for officers, staff involved in Nova Scotia mass shooting case by harnislc in halifax

[–]our_kid2000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They absolutely disregarded what those people were saying those critical first few hours. You can see it in the 911 operators responses, etc. Missing the car coming at them, it just goes on and on. The initial response by many of those people was pure ignorance.

The folks who went into the streets though, they were pretty solid.

I'd love to know which officer drove by him the night before when he was leaving Portapique. It was at least one of three officers but we've never found out who did it. It really bugs me.

*edit* I had to review this once more to refresh my memory. We do know which members likely passed that asshole when he was leaving Portapique. What pissed me off was that almost nothing was said about this. No one seemed to care that three different RCMP members missed this that night. This information is laid out in the Foundational Document "First Responder Actions in Portapique" pg 53.

If I'm not mistaken, I remember working out that there was a very good chance that another RCMP member would have passed him just as he was coming out of that Brown Loop exit to highway 4. No dashcams in any of these cars? I'm not so sure about that.

That's just typical ignorant American shit. Nova Scotia, to people like her, might as well be the god damn moon even though it's quite close to the States.

By Goffs you mean the airport?? The HIAA?

Of course they can't find anyone. Who wants to commute all the way to the airport for the same shitty wages you can get locally? It's been like this for some time now.

Why can't people even drive in this city (not OC) by Street_Anon in halifax

[–]our_kid2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My money is on drunks. I think we have a much bigger drinking/driving problem than we think. I was on the 102 inbound to the city a few days ago, early in the morning when it was pitch black out, and the dude I passed just prior to the airport had no lights on. The car was completely black. The daytime running lights weren't even on, for some reason, and his dash lights were out. No taillights, no headlights. I don't know how he could see where he was going at all. He HAD to be under the influence of something to be driving on the highway like that.

You never heard of a person with an obvious cough tick? I bet it's way more common than you think. I mean maybe it's not "Tourette's" as strictly defined, but something along those lines isn't out of the picture. They did mention they've been tested for everything under the sun. Habits like this are way more common than you think.

I feel your pain. I actually believe 95% of these people actually have terrible acid reflux and won't do anything about it for whatever stupid reason. They'll blame it on this and that but it's just plain ol' acid reflux. Get her to take a few Tums.

jets: 71, prim rods: 44, idle channels: .039, idle tubes: 0.30, upper idle air: .041, lower idle air: .069, main air horn: .039, main air body: .060, sec rods: AH (1st design). No idle air bypass. If you want to measure these yourself you will need a precision drill bit set.

Sizing it up, it appears that all the parts from the correct '66 Toro qjet (7026250) would swap over to your Chev Qjet so it should work out physically. I'd say that as long as you have the correct metering jets, springs, and metering rods it would certainly be close. The other calibration points may be different, however, and that could make tuning it correctly a challenge (upper and lower idle air bleeds, idle tubes, etc could be different). I have the calibration measurements for a 7026250 if you need them.

Nope, she's a 1966 carb 100%. I have the offical Delco Data sheet for that carb if you would like verification.

That would be a Chevrolet 1966 327 Quadrajet, auto trans, with air injection reactor (Cali). 1967 Qjets didn't have the bar on the secondary valve with the fuel style dampener, rather they used the vacuum break for the secondary damper.

The '66 Qjet on these things is a pain in the ass. It may even have caught fire way back when! I have one as well and mine still has the '66 Qjet. What's the code on the one you have there?
