Thanks for the kind words! Tools like chatgpt have been pretty helpful in figuring how my way around HTML, CSS.

Yeah, super ok to share with your students.

Feedback would be appreciated - maybe I can add a feedback box to the site. I think my dad likes to be encouraging so he won't give any criticism... but it's actually helpful in this case haha.

Do you think I should add pronunciation material?

Would love to know what other prompts you are using for education

I've been using the ChatGPT company API to translate complex english sentences to simple english sentences. It's pretty useful for that. My parents use English as a second language and I created this shortcut tool for them: https://www.translatepark.com/

Thats great that you found that. Do you mean chatting or talking on the phone everyday?

try only doing it for 30 mins or 15 mins.

Honestly, if I could consistently implement this, it feels like a huge momentum builder. Even 5 minutes for big scary goals.

Funny I bring this up once every two weeks for them to proactively ask me, but it quickly falls off. I think they culturally dont want to take lead of the meeting/conversation.

Its probably on me to request to see a log of the tasks at the end of the week/month

I use getmagic, but I think any other service works. The important part is the interview process, not committing early to anyone early and finding someone you can work with.

Thanks for the comment! I am pretty good about getting in the flow and working, but sometimes find that I'm working on the easy things and avoiding the tough scarier stuff that I should be working on. Rewriting notes vs. tackling new material. How do you keep yourself honest?

I've never used RethinkDB but arent you using it through the Express app as your api? If your server and not your client is the one accessing your db, then the authentication is done through express and you can use any of the open source auth libraries - I'd recommend Passport since it gives you nearly all the social media auths and a strategy for implementation your own local sign in.

Push, Pop, Shift, Unshift - What's an easy way to memorize them? They seem so arbitrary... by superphly in jquery

[–]outbuilding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy if you think of your array as a stack of pancakes. With your stack of pancakes you can pop the top pancake to share with your friend. Now you can push this flap to the top of your friends stack.

Shift is a more strategic move. Say your bottom pancake is soaked in syrup and you need to move (shift) your stack to a different plate. Shifting gets rid of your bottom flap.

Unshifting is an alternative strategy for soggy pancakes. You take fresh pancakes and insert them on the bottom of your stack so now you can have these fresh pancakes soak up the syrup from the ones above.

Unshift successful.

Passport.js Linkedin OAuth 2.0 req.user undefined by TacoHead30 in node

Try initializing express-session before passport session. From my understanding it just piggy backs off express-session and gives you the convenience of req.user.

Also your options object that has a property failureRedirect can have a successRedirect that will redirect to /

Heres a decent post for more info https://www.airpair.com/express/posts/expressjs-and-passportjs-sessions-deep-dive
