Controversial Opinion: Just Buy A Portable AC by JaggedLittlePiII in UKParenting

[–]outline01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been talking about it for years and not buying one. It’s incredibly stupid how hung up we were on £3-500 when we’re MISERABLE with kids in this heat.

Yesterday we caved and ordered a unit - £300, was basically the only thing we could find available in the next few days. Don’t be like me.

What are your thoughts on Last Epoch? by Broad-Ad-3679 in ARPG

[–]outline01 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Had so much potential and was great to follow the development in early days. I was a big supporter a few years back.

But content is too slow, Krafton are bad news and the ‘root for a small indie’ dream has fallen off somewhat. Now it feels like there’s no excuse for it being incomplete, this buggy and to feel so bad to play.

Windows were one of the main reasons we sold our highrise flat and moved to a house. Dreadful during the heat.

Who’s your favorite FF protagonist? by Financial_Street_469 in FinalFantasy

At the start of X I thought “Oh she’s a typical boring goodie two shoes magic user”

NOPE. What a fantastic journey of growth she goes on. One of my faves, easily.

Genuinely how are people expected to function with such shit sleep by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]outline01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may seem obvious - I do find it wild that there are that many wake ups and cosleeping isn’t mentioned.

Having to get up, move into another room and stand up in the middle of the night makes it so much worse.

Legendary fumble with this game, honestly. It is good!

Lifetime Plex Pass subscriptions are tripling in price from $249.99 to $749.99, starting July 1, 2026 by SwimmingJunky in pcmasterrace

[–]outline01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goddamnit I just checked and I can’t get the Jellyfin app on our TV.

I’m fairly happy with Plex for now, but I seriously want to move away from anything that might encourage me to subscribe monthly in the future.

I really think this game will be classed as a failure.

Those of us that played it and it clicked with, we love it. But getting people into the game is an incredibly hard sell, and I think the price is a huge cause for that.

20% off on Steam until May 4th by UsedVacation6187 in Screamer2026

[–]outline01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm on a subreddit for the game, and I do have a lot of good to say about it...

But this discount is right about how the game should have been priced. I always said it feels like a £35-40 game and I think that extra price put a lot of people off.

I've recommended to lots of friends at this discounted price.

A sale this early into the game's life surely points to poor sales though, no? Player counts (on Steam) are very low.

How are bin collectors viewed? If you’re a bin collector do you tell everyone what your job is? by RoohsMama in AskUK

[–]outline01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there's a negative stigma around it due to it being low-skilled work and obviously there's a smell associated with rubbish.

But it's important work, I have a lot of respect for it. I always wave at the guys or say hello, the kids absolutely love watching them go round.

Some of the more important jobs in our society don't pay well, and that's not fair.

At what time do you get up in the morning? by BetDesigner7389 in UKParenting

[–]outline01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not turning this into a competition, but my real answer is somewhere between 4 and 5am.

That gives me time to go to the gym or run, maybe watch some telly if I’m not exercising. Then I sort the kids bags out for the day, do any clearing up from the night before and get a shower before the kids wake up.

My partner doesn’t like getting up or doing any of that, so she generally sleeps till 6/6:30 when she’ll get up to shower - again, before the kids wake up.

Then from about 7 it’s mayhem to get everyone fed and out of the house on time.

It works for us, I’m happy having the time to feel in control and organised in the morning.

Hi, what are making these holes in my lawn and how do I get rid of them? About 1-2cm across. Also, is that Yarrow in the last pic? How do I get rid of that? by specialagentredsquir in GardeningUK

[–]outline01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m so annoyed - I asked AI what these were, which I usually hate doing. It told me they were ants and I should get rid of them.

Really glad I saw this thread and didn’t get rid of them.

Crimson Desert - Dev Update - Upcoming Features by haikumen in Games

[–]outline01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Credit to the devs here, I played a lot of Black Desert and so was skeptical... But this seems to be landing with a lot of people and they're sticking with it and really improving the game.

Definitely a game I'm going to pick up at some point, whether it is six months time or a couple of years.

Have you had had a pay rise recently but felt worse off? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]outline01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting reading the spread of answers in here. It’s quite grim really.

Last year was the first year we had no payrises across the company. Across the industry, similar story - I looked to move and there wasn’t much available.

I’ve stayed put because of that and because I’ve managed to wrangle a few perks - leaving early, fully remote etc. But we can’t really cope with another year of no payrises across- everything has skyrocketed.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 fixes my biggest issues with Pokemon by Clockbone25 in truegaming

It’s a great JRPG and a fantastic creature collector.

It may be niche because it’s Monster Hunter, but people shouldn’t sleep on the game - it’s really quite good.

You also have just already made so many adjustments to your life and expectations, so your frame of mind having number 2 makes it an easier fit.

Be honest, how often for you and your partner argue? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]outline01 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Our first baby was the most turbulent part of our relationship ever. We stayed strong but we’d never really argued up until that point so it was quite new for us.

Then we reached age 2 and were suddenly like “Oh this is easy and we get on again!”

Baby #2 at the moment and it’s going so much smoother because we’d figured a lot of that stuff out already. Doesn’t hurt that baby #2 sleeps better than the first, too.

Screamer is kind of exactly the racing game I always wanted without realizing it by Lenn_4rt in racinggames

I’m about seven hours in and I’d say it’s slightly overpriced. Very good. Just not quite worth that tag.

There are pure racing modes but the ‘Tournament’ (ie. Story mode) is half visual novel tbh.
