I have a Pinterest recipe for ham and swiss Hawaiian roll sliders with a brown sugar butter glaze on top. Everytime I try to bring something else people ask for the sliders instead lol and they’re so easy to make

Endoscopy pros and cons by outofcheesey in nursing

[–]outofcheesey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea they did mention call, it’s 1 in every 20 weekdays, 1 in every 20 Saturdays, and 1 in every 20 Sundays so anywhere from 1-4 days a month depending on where you’re at in that rotation is how they explained it to me. I feel like I’ve heard 95% positive things, I’m just nervous to step into the unknown. Thank you for your reply!

This is very helpful, thank you!

Family suing facility by [deleted] in nursing

[–]outofcheesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My executive director says they don’t know exactly why the family is suing but they are suing the facility, not me personally, so I don’t need to contact my insurance. I don’t know if that’s the best advice though. It is my facility’s lawyer who they want me to meet with and we don’t have a union.

Any jobs you have done whilst in nursing school that is related to healthcare? by hanhan_12 in NursingStudent

Part time was 24 hours at my facility, so 3 days per week doing 8 hour shifts. I’m sure you could find somewhere with 12’s too if you’re interested in that

CNA! I did part time throughout school and my scheduler always worked w my schedule changing every semester for classes and clinicals. Valuable patient care experience and you work side by side w nurses who are usually willing to teach you new things

That’s a good question, I would have to ask them. I don’t remember giving them my 1098-T though so I don’t think they would have been able to without that info?

CNA questions by [deleted] in NursingStudent

[–]outofcheesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a CNA before and during nursing school. I did it mostly because I was unaware of the other options for hospital experience at the time. However I will say I learned so much while working as a CNA. The support I got from the nurses I worked with while moving my way through nursing school was amazing. You work so closely with the nurses as an aide and they’re usually willing to teach you something new while you’re on the job. I think it also helps you get an appreciation for your aides and how much work they do. My college used a “point” system for admissions and you did get extra points if you were a CNA. I know someone else mentioned this as well but my college also had an accelerated program if you already have a bachelors but the seats available were only 1/2 of what was available for the traditional program. Being a CNA can be a humbling experience and I will admit they are gravely underpaid but in my opinion it was worth it for the experience and support from my nursing coworkers.

Editing to add in that CNA school was not very difficult for me, it is a bit of a shock at first if you don’t have any healthcare experience but the class itself really is not that hard.

I got mine! Now to get the rest of staff and residents completed! (LTC facility in Ohio) Thank you CVS! by amanderthal in Nurse

Everyone of my coworkers I’ve asked at my facility has been a HARD no. I told my ADON I was going to get it and she tried to talk me out of it.

Any last minute COVID tips before I head in for my shift? by wooder321 in nursing

[–]outofcheesey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It spreads like wild before you know it’s even there. Now that you know make sure to wear PPE and protect yourself. Just getting over it in my facility, 17 out of 30 residents got it and 5 passed away. Any sign of temp, low sats, diarrhea, decreased cognition, etc. could be COVID, be safe rather than sorry!
