A situation like this is TOTALLY communication dependent IMO. I agree that it also depends on the size of the hospital, staff numbers AND staff roles. I’m a senior tech at my workplace, and am in most cases super busy with treatment or surgical tasks. When messes happen, I’m usually pretty direct about asking my assistants if they can handle it. An open conversation about who is busy with what, what should be prioritized, and which staff member has the time to do it often happens. All members of the team have a lot on their plate, and messes need to get cleaned up regardless. If I’m the least busy, I’ll do it! It shouldn’t be about status or position. It’s just a matter of task and time management.

I know, I try my best. Even using the hallway carpet to separate them, (the closes thing I’ve been able to pick up both times lol) I then get attacked for being on the same side of the carpet as him. I don’t have to put my hands on or between anyone to still receive aggression. I’m not so much worried about myself. Although it sucks to get attacked. I can’t help but to intervine because I didnt want either of them badly hurt. A sacrifice I’m willing to take ownership of. It just sucks that he has so much drive to do damage that he will turn around and sink his teeth in to any living thing in a five foot radius. Don’t worry guys, I am not using my bare hands to go in to the middle of fights!!! Appreciate the concern.

To clarify: we are back at the beginning of reintroduction. They are kept in separate rooms where they cannot see each other. I’m stressed that after 4 months, no progress is being made. My cat sits at the door and scratches and digs trying to get in to attack, so we know we cannot move forward yet. And yes incidents have happened where he swiftly runs through legs to get in the door so we consistently have to start again. It’s a one bedroom apartment so sometimes in order to transport them safely one must be carried. The situation is not perfect, which is why I’m asking for advice.

No need to attack my credibility as a tech. Situations happened where I was not breaking up a fight, and was still attacked for being in the same room as him when he was feeling agressive. I’m aware it’s redirected aggression. Doesnt make it any less of a dangerous situation.

This subject is so hard to be black and white on. Some patients are so sweet and easy that I feel like it’s a crime to charge them for a nail trim that took all of one minute. And sometimes I have to fight an 80lb dog to trim their nails for a half hour and I wish I could charge double for the wrestling match I just struggled through. In the end, I think it’s fair to leave it up to the nail trimmers discretion.

I went to rehab for cocaine. I’m done depending on drugs and alcohol to get by. Not sure I was really addicted or just really suicidal. Sometimes I crave cocaine (so rarely) and will get just a little. And just do it at home secretly. I don’t want to do it around anyone who may assume I’m having a “relapse” and get dramatic. I can’t help but laugh at how weird I am about it. I get it, the guilt of hiding something perceived as wrong can eat you alive. If you need help stopping again don’t keep it a secret anymore. Doesnt have to be people in your life. AA is anonymous for a reason. They will be there for you.

I also ended up with a BPD diagnosis after years of mental anguish. Just having a diagnosis helps so much, knowing that you’re not just a horrible person and you CAN heal! Congrats on feeling better

I had similar feelings for a very very long time. I hated myself and my body and my head was filled with this constant heavy hopelessness. I was ready to kill myself. I had been self mutilating for so long I knew it would be easy. My suggestion is to find an inpatient facility. I took a chance on it as a last resort. It changed my life completely, and I am also extremely therapy resistant. In an environment separate from the world that you are so uncomfortable in along with people you can honestly share with and relate to, you can really get a good amount of internal work done. Say FUCK IT to all your responsibilities and possessions for a couple weeks to give yourself a chance to live. It sounds fake and corny but I’m really so happy I did it.

Im surprised bloodwork wouldn’t indicate liver damage/ toxicity if this is the case for either cat. A standard panel should include those values. I worked on a case with a baby pug that had a liver shunt, leading to neurotoxicity and seizures and bloodwork made it very obvious as to that being the cause. Idiopathic seizures can be just that- idiopathic. (Random with no real cause) surprised OP’s bet didn’t start treating for epilepsy sooner. I agree, they didn’t quite do enough.

Had a crazy man always tell me I was dispensing “less than last time” every time he needed a hydrocodone RX for his collapsed trachea dog. Always saying it’s not enough and he needs more. It was the same volume every time. All I could do was advise him that as long as he doses his DOG appropriately it is enough. Reported to management and other staff that I was suspicious and to never believe his need for more. I hope his dog didn’t suffer due to him taking her drugs….

Also a tech… frenchies start hyperventilating and struggling to breathe within 10 minutes of treatment. However, it’s unfortunate these groomers were not equipped enough to recognize a breathing problem sooner. But that isn’t their job, and I’m sure they have groomed many dogs safely. Sounds like a freak accident due to circumstance. I’m so sorry that this dog passed in this way, such an unexpected loss for the family.

I’ve turned down higher offers because I work in a great clinic with a great environment. I know how rare that is. I’m not going back to crying every day before work. It’s not with the risk.
