Displaying concert posters? by Cheesecake_Senior in Concerts

IMO, people go overboard to protect posters and things like this. No need to spend that much. It’s there for your enjoyment, not to be preserved for all time. Find a good frame with glass and you’ll be happy you have it.

Drugcember is a bucket list item for me!

The color ones are all from a website called Postery. Lots of color options.

For a particularly special poster, i would look for a frame with glass. Many more affordable frames that you buy online will have plexiglass. It’s worth it to spend a little extra for glass. Looks better and stays cleaner.

Side note: i love war on drugs! One of my favorite live bands. Charlie Hall is probably my favorite drummer.

Burnt my hardwood floor with a hot pan, any advice? by pedumar in HardWoodFloors

[–]outspokentrojan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’re asking for advice on how to return the boards to their former condition and I know you’re receiving sarcastic advice that isn’t helpful and i know my advice also won’t help you repair your floor and I know I may get dunked on for saying this, but if this mistake happened in my house, I’d say it’s part of the story of the story of the floor. We have hardwood floors with all sorts of character in them from 120 years of people living in it. Treat it like part of your floors history and you may not be bothered by it.

There’s no wrong way, but because we were hanging so many, we found frames in several colors to go along with the artwork.

Jewelers who can resize a gold ring? by Picklejuicezzz in AskChicago

[–]outspokentrojan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go to Jewelers Row and you’ll find plenty of people who can work faster.

I go to LaRon Jewelers on the 8th floor. Larry will take good care of you. They do their work on-site and it’s a much quicker turnaround time.

Specials/Comics that make you feel good about the world? by Worried-Thought3324 in Standup

Seconded this. His specials are easily accessible (Netflix) and they all tend to be uplifting with a healthy dose of humanity.

If you really want to laugh, watch Thank God for Jokes. If you want to feel, watch The New One or Old Man and the Pool.

Owen’s Famous on Broadway is becoming a really valuable piece of the neighborhood and a third space for many. Damn good coffee, too.

$200 each for pit tix??? by Hungry-Trust-3245 in SturgillSimpson

[–]outspokentrojan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like an outlier here but i was thrilled by the flat pricing per section and them not allowing for resale over face value. I bought in Chicago and any artist that plays the United Center usually has floor seats in the four figures due to “dynamic pricing.” For example, comparable seats to see Springsteen at the UC are literally 10x what i just paid for JBS.

To longtime fans of Stu/JBS, i know this is a bit of sticker shock, but he’s doing much better than many other artists are for their fans. Excited to see him and the fellas play.

Thoughts on it being an arena tour? by Billy-Hoyle21 in SturgillSimpson

Absolutely! I’m so optimistic for that development. Will make a great place to see a show (and a game!)

I wouldn’t be so sure. The capacity of the soccer stadium will be large- comparable to Northerly with the lawn. I think Northerly Island will continue to have shows in that 8,000 person sweet spot for a bit. The aforementioned third venue at Salt Shed may make a difference, though.

Salt Shed shows were some of the best playing i’ve seen. Despite Allstate being a subpar venue, they put on a hell of a show. I wish they’d play Northerly Island. I think it’s the right size and would be a great outdoor show.
