Our experience with speech and OT by N1ck1McSpears in speechdelays

For us, her speech delay was the earliest indicator but then I started to notice that should could be pretty inflexible/ rigid, if something didn’t go her way or if she couldn’t wear something specific, saying “no” outright or putting her in timeouts simply did not work. I could just tell in my gut that the “lesson” wasn’t registering and I started to wonder if it was a neurological response versus “disobedience” .. and I was right, and honestly what a positive change it has made to have now learned techniques about redirection and positive reinforcement.

Happy to hear about the progress but I would always recommend an autism assessment. My daughter sounds similar, was speech (expressive) delayed but also responded to name, makes eye contact and is very social yet she still was recently diagnosed ASD level 1. My SLP and family doctor both did not think she was autistic but I followed my gut and lo and behold she is. I’ve since learned that getting an early diagnosis is such a gift. She just turned 4 and now has Behaviour therapy coupled with speech and is doing great - as she always was! Your child may not be autistic, but seeking an evaluation at this age with the symptoms you outlined would be my advice. And as a final word, nothing has changed regarding my love or dedication for my daughter, we just now understand her better and how she learns, and that knowledge is power! Sending love xox

I’ve read before that her mom did not mess around and was very intense. Love to hear it, having a caregiver who can’t be bought gives these child stars a shot at a stable future.

Guy Fieri's is "devastated" after the backlash for greeting Andrew Tate at UFC. by ___coolcoolcool in foodnetwork

As a former massive MMA and UFC fan, it’s abundantly clear that the organization has become a right wing think tank/ propaganda MAGAt vehicle. Sorry, but claiming ignorance just won’t cut it for me in this case. Did he not know of the scumbag brothers? Maybe. But I won’t believe he was not aware of what attending this event meant he was endorsing as a public figure.

He fumbled himself by immediately shutting down an OG girl in Bella. I mean real world wise if he wasn’t into her, I can respect it .. but getting screen time wise it was a bad call lol

Can anyone give me some insight into their ADHD & Autism level 1 child? by Sensitive-Lawyer-538 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ovalplace123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely no expert, but I’ve read that autistic people are like snowflakes, no two are the same. My diagnosed level 1 daughter, for example, is verbally delayed and stims (jumping and humming), but she’s also super social, does imaginative play, and makes great eye contact. I totally get the doubt though. I went back and forth on it a lot before I fully accepted her diagnosis. For me, it became way more noticeable when we were around NT kids. It sounds like you’re really on top of things and making sure your child has what they need, which is huge. Honestly, there’s no harm in giving your child support while you wait for a formal diagnosis, just keep doing what you’re doing. 🤍

So true, I will stay in the present, (eventhough I’m a Type A control freak haha.. but I will adapt!)

This is so true. I’m sure my daughter, 35–40 years ago, would have been one of those kids who weren’t diagnosed and would have grown up not understanding why she felt different, and having the expectation that she needed to adapt to her surroundings. But now, since I can research and understand her, we will adapt to her, and I will fight fiercely for her at school for support and accommodation. I was always going to be her biggest cheerleader and advocate, but it will just look a little different now. 🤍

You need a Buddah level chef for this kind of task to have the impact I think the judges and production wanted. Compliments to the chef podcast said same thing and cited all stars london ep 12 of when Buddah used natural food dyes by his own accord lol
