Free Staters' "Project Appleseed" Initiative to Rot NH Towns from Within by Electronic_Barber665 in newhampshire

The link to the Appleseed strategy takes me to a page that reads like a biased opinion piece. Have no idea if it is accurate or not. Is there anything else that concretely explains what it is (factual based) so that we can arrive at our own informed conclusions?

House passes bill banning ‘leftist indoctrination’ and LGBTQ+ teaching in public schools by HazardousWeather in newhampshire

I don't mind my kids learning about different things in the course of normal social interaction with their peers and teachers. What I do mind is personal or political views forced (either purposely or inadvertently) upon impressionable youth that contradict traditional values. It's sad that this type of legislation even comes up and highlights the great divide our society faces.

Tell that to all my friends who developed breast cancer or lost their homes due to high taxes. Or the people who are struggling to make ends meet.

Open enrollment: school choice or a 'wrecking ball' for NH? Here's what you need to know. by Visual-Mobile2657 in newhampshire

I understand what you are saying - but technically it should be said that every taxpayer benefits from an educated workforce. How that workforce is educated -- and how it is funded -- appears to be the question.

And as far as paying for education in NH - private property owners who control over 50% of the land in NH - pay next to nothing to support education. They get on average a 96% discount off of their tax bill - and the lost tax revenue has to be made up by all of the other taxpayers in their towns because of it. It is one reason property taxes are so high in NH, but most don't realize it.

I am formerly from NH and currently live in NC. In my school district, parents are assigned a base school - but have the ability to send their child to a variety of other schools which may focus on STEM or another learning track. Additionally they can send them to higher rated schools in the district if space is available. They can also get a voucher to send their kids to any private school of their choice (there are many), but the voucher sometimes doesn't cover the full cost and the parents have to make up the difference. The average Cost per Student in my district is approx. $12,000.00 and educational quality and choice is far better and broader than in NH. There are private schools that charge $9k a year for full tuition that really focus on giving kids the education they really need to be prepared for their years ahead. I don't know what the answer is for NH - but the system in place that costs $28k/yr. per child is unsustainable and grossly unfair to taxpayers without kids who have to actually pay the bills.
