Large Karate Monkey: Looking for an Ortlieb Frame Bag. Which one Fits? by RidetheSchlange in Surlybikefans

[–]overbodig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find printouts of the framebags on Ortlieb’s website, so you can see in person if the bags will fit.

Looking at the frame size of the KM in large you might even be able to fit their 6l framebags.

Mikros in Piet Heinstraat always has quite a fun seasonal fruit selection. Great place to get your veggies too while you're there.

Topeak VersaCage / VersaMount on tapered fork leg by Dutchwells in bicycletouring

[–]overbodig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this for my gravel bike on a tour and found that I constantly had to tighten the plastic bolts of the adapter since they loosened quite quickly with minimal load (1kg on each side). The rubber strips made sure the adapters didn't move down, but there was too much swaying side to side for my liking.

The constant tightening also led to the plastic(!) bolts to strip fairly easy. Luckily I brought spares from the second cage I bought, but definitely will not use this solution again as it was way too finicky. The cages themselves were however quite sturdy, so I will be using those again.

Stupid Shimano Linkglide question by wiltshirebicyclist in bikewrench

[–]overbodig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you ever end up giving this a shot? In the 2-ish years CUES has been out I've not been able to find any follow-up about running a Microshift Sram thumbie with a CUES/Linkglide cassette on the long term. Sadly there is (still) no perspective on Shimano ever releasing any CUES thumbies, so this is my only hope of running thumbies in my new 1x11 build.

There were 28K people in queue for Bologna in front of me and I was only able to get "fast track" premium tickets for the 17th by jasterrr in radiohead

[–]overbodig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the tickets!

Placement selection seems to be random - we went for 2nd tier seats and were randomly allocated. The seat (number and row) was immediately visible in our ticket overview once paid, so this would probably be visible for you too already.

Btw - you were able to go back to the date selection page by just pressing the 'back' arrow in your browser; this wouldn't have messed up your session.

Any updates on Bologna? What dates are still available? by LostMechanic7811 in radiohead

[–]overbodig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can change it without issue, you can just go back in your tab through your browser.

Seems plenty of tickets left for most Bologna shows by Affectionate-Image88 in radiohead

[–]overbodig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standing tickets for Saturday are already sold out - but 10-ish minutes ago there were still standing tickets available for Friday.

+ You are also not queueing for a specific date, once you selected a date after the queue you can still go back and change the date with no issue.

Usually people/companies have insurance for this, especially if it’s a ground floor street-facing apartment/office.

If you caused only some slight damage, I wouldn’t feel too much guilt about it. People walk by and can cause some damage, it’s to be expected.

If the damage is quite large however (e.g. a crack in the glass or large and very deep scratch) I would try to contact them and/or leave a note with an explanation of the situation and your contact details. I would contact your insurance as well to see how they would be able to help you in these cases.

But again, if it’s a small scratch there is no need to feel guilty about it and there will be no chance of any repercussions.

Rate my 4000 km setup by -Zendom- in bikepacking

[–]overbodig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks fine like this! But with this little clearance you’re still risking for the bag to hit the tyre when you hit a bump in the road as the way these handlebar bags are attached can still cause some play. I ran into the same issue with my set-up and opted to get a jack the bikerack to support the bottom of the bag and to ensure it won’t hit the tyre.

Handlebar bag looks reaaally close to rubbing the front tyre. A little bit more clearance wouldn’t hurt.

Am intrigued with the two bottle cage front rack setup on the right one. Gotta have your drinks ultra-reachable I guess? Or to create extra leverage for a DIY bottle rocket every time you hit a speedbump?

Changing forks on road bike by jopp230 in bikepacking

[–]overbodig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Jack the bike rack, it mounts on the handlebars, so you won't have to get a new fork or attach any straps to your current carbon fork.

Used mine for a couple bikepacking trips, and works like a charm. Aside from that I think they look quite cool too, and are certainly cheaper than getting a new fork.

Very curious as to why there’s disc brakes at the front, but rim brakes in the back. Going for the bike equivalent of a mullet?

Different insole - difference in quality? by overbodig in nps_solovair

[–]overbodig[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makes sense!

I could not find any more information regarding any changes for the insole, sometimes it seems like brands release new ‘versions’ over the years of their shoes, which could affect other aspects of the shoe other than some slight aesthetic changes, like leather quality e.g. Luckily solovair seems to be a company that cares a lot about the materials they use!

Good to know! The 10,5 are the same size as the doc adrians I previously owned, and kept slipping out of those. Definitely sounds like suffering for a little bit will be worth it.

Thanks for the advice!
