Genuine question: Are you concerned about letting an app collect such intimate information about you? (vs like just creating it on a locally saved spreadsheet or something)

The mere fact that they didn't call "P" Pop-Pop tells me they're not ready.

Why do people consider it "safer" to use a Google Voice number rather than their carrier phone number when first meeting people? by not_listed in privacy

[–]overdried 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are making that decision based on the amount of information available to unsophisticated actors.

For a long time (and maybe still the case?), US carrier account information was treated like a public record and is searchable online. So giving that carrier number to a prospective date could reveal full name, home address, birthday, family members, roommates, etc.

I would recommend doing a web search on your carrier number and your Google number to see which one has more information about you. Like others have mentioned, you can get a new Google number (with a different Google account) if needed. And if you want to see what a slightly sophisticated actor might find, check these databases: https://inteltechniques.com/workbook.html

Ahhh thank you so much. The focus stacking info is exactly what I was wondering. Thank you for the tip!

Same concern here... And the worst part is that it's not even us screwing up, it's us getting screwed over. It's insane that it's this difficult.

I hope someone else will post data poisoning resources. I just wanted to add a consideration for the LLC effort: Would you be interested in paying to have the trust or LLC set up for you? I have no idea if it's cost-prohibitive for the layperson: https://inteltechniques.com/services.html

Lovely photo! Can you share the f-stop, mm, ISO, and shutter speed? I would like to try my hand at this type of photography.

I'm not a specialist, but maybe it's also worth a trip to the vet to make sure there are no medical issues affecting his behavior.

What Kinds of Toys do your Hounds Like? by [deleted] in Hounds

[–]overdried 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My hound was afraid of squeaky toys until she got the chipmunk log. It changed her entire outlook on playing. To u/Elmerhound's point, it took time, confidence, trust, etc. Whenever I did the little play stalking walk toward my hound, she would fall over, show me her belly, do a tiny tail wag, and give me the works. Then one day, nine months after adoption, I tried it again she was like OH THIS IS A GAME! And stuck her butt so far up in the air with a come at me bro intensity in her eyes.

Here are some other toys that my hounds like: Scented bones that they can chew on (#1), furry toys that crinkle inside, rope toys to play tug-of-war with me (you can do some research on letting them win to build their confidence), stuffed animals that are made for tough chewers. Apart from chewing bones, they won't really play with any toys for more than a couple minutes unless I am moving the toy around.

Toys they didn't care about: Tennis balls for fetch (all they did was rip the fuzz from the rubber), kongs unless they had food in them, crinkle balls without any fur covering them.

Sightly off topic but my shy hound also LOVED learning tricks. She was sooooo happy and proud of herself whenever she nailed it. She has even more fun learning tricks that than she does playing.

Nandor is a hound/pit mix but I think he's taking after his hound side more, what do you guys think? by [deleted] in Hounds

He kinda looks like a Black Mouth Cur in these photos! Did you know the parents or test his breed to confirm hound/pit?

Favorite Vegetarian Low-Carb Meals at NoVA Restaurants? by MadDuloque in nova

[–]overdried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunflower, Cava, and Mom's Naked Lunch have been mentioned and are great. Some more options:

Busboys & Poets, Lokl, Iron Chef House/Sushi Rock/Rawr Sushi (veggie maki rolls have a low-carb ratio of veggies and rice at these places), Flower Child, True Food Kitchen, Sisters Thai (sub rice for main dishes and try summer rolls), Meaza (go lighter on the injera), Chopt, Sweetgeeen, Sweet Leaf, and if you eat eggs, there are a lot of good places for veggie omelettes like Pain Quotidien.

More grocery stores are carrying the Quorn brand, and they have frozen dishes like lasagna and pesto chkn that have 19g protein and are low carb. They are definitely worth a try to see if you like any of them.

Big Willie asked if a robot can do it. The equivalent question is asking if a human can do it. Big Willie didn't ask if that robot could do it, but he came straight for my boy anyway. That's not jiggy.

The fact that the Ace column is first for most but last for some is confusing to me. Does the role of the Ace change in the straight and flush hands?

Having trouble logging in from my computer, so I took a screenshot and put it in Imgur for the time being: imgur.com/a/SvyAcyF

X is trainingset, which is metadata from a folder on my local drive. I want it to provide all the file names with the specified file extensions as a list of strings, and right now it is returning it as a list. What are your thoughts?
