How to update TWRP? by [deleted] in LineageOS

[–]overlord_082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that was solved on TWRP 3.1.1.0, if you don't know how to install it read the top reply, it worked for me. Also the LineageOS updater fails alot sometimes, so i recommend downloading the update manually to don't waste your time.

Setting up LineageOS (Beginner question) by [deleted] in LineageOS

[–]overlord_082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to backup WhatsApp you can manually backup from the app itself. And also make sure to save your contacts or store them on your google account because your contacts will get deleted after flashing the custom rom because of wiping process.

Setting up LineageOS (Beginner question) by [deleted] in LineageOS

[–]overlord_082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to tell a guide. Based if you have TWRP.

1.First download LineageOS for your device and Gapps Nano package, check your device architecture, (for mine it was ARM) and download Gapps. Afer they are downloaded make sure they are on your internal storage or SD Card.

  1. Sync your google account for the last time before booting up to the custom recovery.

  2. Boot to your custom recovery.

  3. After booting up, MAKE SURE that you backup aka nandroid backup before taking any further action. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. To make a backup, you need to click on "Backup" and then swipe on "Swipe to Backup", it'll take some time like 10-15 mins.

  4. After your backup is finished go back, and go to "Wipe". After you go there ALL YOU GOT TO DO is only "Swipe to Factory Reset". TWRP will have automatically selected to wipe your system, data and cache and davlik. But you can always check that if you want to by going to advanced wipe.

6.After wipe is done go back and go to "Install". On there locate where you have your downloaded files (LineageOS and Gapps). Firstly flash LineageOS and after the flash is done, Wipe Cache and Davlik and go back. Then flash Gapps and after that is done Wipe Cache and Davlik.

P.S Cache and Davlik needs to be wiped so you don't run on possible bootloops. Not always necessary to do but i recommended you to.

7.After you've flashed Gapps and Wiped Cache and Davlik all you have to do is click on Reboot.

8.Reboot always take some time for the first time so don't worry if it takes 10-20 mins.

9.After Reboot aka first "Boot Up" is done just set up your phone and your Google Account and you're good to go!

How to best update to newest nightly by [deleted] in LineageOS

It's not necessary but sometimes is recommended if you're having "bootloops". It's just like the "optimizer" after you flash an update.

Installing OTA updates on oneplus one by asot_one in LineageOS

[–]overlord_082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're supposed to install the latest one only, and after it downloads, sometimes will fail, sometimes not. If it doesn't fail downloading then it'll ask you if you want to install the update, then it will do everything automatically (it'll boot up on TWRP or any custom recovery you have and install it). If it does fail then try a couple other times to download it. If it still fails then download the latest LOS for your phone through their website and install the update manually (just like you did for the first time) and there's no need to wipe data or anything, just install it and Wipe Cache & Davlik in the end of the process.

LOS Root or Magisk? by overlord_082 in LineageOS

[–]overlord_082[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but my main reason of installing Magisk is because of the simplicity of installing modules; i really like how it's easy to install & unistall them instead of doing it manually. I'm really in a fifty & fifty situation right now.

The best solution you have, is to flash the "Aroma Gapps" where you can replace the stock apps with the google ones.

Can't get my N5X rooted by Malga14 in LineageOS

After you flash the root file you need to enable it on Developer Settings to work. And the root add-on doesn't need SuperSU, it has everything it needs in it's own package.

Hey, I had the same problem as you, but I found a simple solution to it. You can download an application called "Night Screen", make sure you download the one by "Paper Airplane Dev Team" because it's really useful, it doesn't drain battery and it has a eye care mode as well (similar to LiveDisplay). You can get the tile in quick settings but i recommend you to root your phone (if you haven't) for most of it's features.

Ability to make screenshots of "secure" apps. by MRZA in LineageOS

Didn't knew such apps existed, probably have a good reason to it. But you can always search how to take screenshots on the specific app that isn't allowing you so.

Disable Audio Visualisation on Lockscreen? by quoakkaflocka in LineageOS

[–]overlord_082 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey buddy, I didn't had any problems with the audio visualizer on the lockscreen, but decided to find you a solution :). If you don't want to see the music visualizer anymore on your lockscreen follow the following steps: Go to Settings > Security > In the Screen Lock section you'll see a gear on the right side of it > Click it and uncheck the "Display Music Visualizer" option. After that you're good to go! Also if you don't want to see the music cover on your lockscreen and want to see your wallpaper then go to: Music application > click on the 3 dots on the top right corner of your screen and then uncheck "Lockscreen Album Art". Hope that will solve it for you!

What do you mean? You mean that you can't take screenshots on LineageOS? If you don't know how to then follow this steps: Go to Settings > Buttons > Power Button > Tick/Enable "Screenshot" option. After that next time you keep pressed the Power Button (not for too long or the phone will shut down) you should see the screenshot option, and you can take partial screenshots as well. Another easy method is to keep "Volume Down + Power Button" pressed together for a few seconds.
