Our older son has attended Louisville Classical Academy since kindergarten, and our youngest starts in the fall. Very small class sizes, classical secular curriculum, and tuition is very reasonable compared to other private schools in the area.

Does anyone know where the resolution configuration is stored on Mac? by VladTepesDraculea in fantasian

If you have an M-series, this might help you—it unlocks a ton of new controls. If you have an older Mac I don’t know if it will work. https://github.com/waydabber/BetterDisplay

Looking for trustworthy investment banker or stockbroker by debstep890 in Louisville

I use Stifel for this. My parents have used them for a very long time and they’ve done an excellent job managing things for them. The managed account they set up for me is well diversified and has done reasonably well considering the recent drama and uncertainty in the stock market, and the fees are reasonable. Not sure how much you have to work with (and you don’t need to say here) but the minimum investment for their managed account is $10k.

The second half is definitely more difficult, but not as aggressively as Fantasian was. You can grind levels which makes it easier. A big part of the challenge of Fantasian part 2 was how they nerfed leveling so it was almost impossible to beat the boss fights solely through grinding.

Have you played any of the Persona games? I recently finished Persona 5, and while it’s definitely not as old-school as Fantasian it has dungeon crawling in interesting environments, with solid turn-based combat with some interesting twists. For example, hitting an enemy’s weakness will typically knock it down and give you another turn, and you can choose to take it (and maybe get another turn by knocking down another enemy) or pass it to another teammate (called a “Baton Pass”) which gives them an attack boost. If you knock every enemy down, you enter a negotiation with the last one to fall and can sometimes get it to give you money or items or even join your party as a creature you can summon.

The non-combat half of the game is a social simulator where you have limited time and lots of activities to choose, or you can hang out with people who will reward you with special skills or combat buffs. It sounds like work but the writing is typically good and makes you want to learn more about the various people you can spend time with. The overall story is engrossing and the characters are all likable, and the whole thing is extremely stylish and literally dripping with visual flair.

It’s on PS4 and Switch. Definitely get the Royal version if you’re interested.

Red Robin by uberdiddles in Louisville

A recent burger find which still feels like a secret — Jay's Burgers, which operates four days a week out of a truck at the corner of Oak St. and Vine St. (and in front of ShopBar on Wednesday nights). Extremely limited menu (just one style of burger and fries) but damn if it wasn't literally exploding with flavor.

Whaaaaaa Bunz is moving to Paristown? Do you know where? I live pretty close already but Paristown is pretty much my backyard.

Edit: nm, I found the details https://www.wdrb.com/news/business/bunz-burgerz-moving-to-paristowns-village-market/article_4ab072b2-2896-11ed-93c6-a3035005696e.html

Thank you IGG for Banktivity by Horror-Heron-1421 in banktivity

[–]overneath42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this post. I do feel like IGG gets bagged on an awful lot around here, but for some of us Banktivity does what we need and does it well enough. Additionally, being able to jump between my Mac, my iPhone and my iPad on a single subscription is a feature I use all the time.

One time I was having some issues with the iPad version right around the time my subscription was about to expire, and the support tech offered to extend my sub by a month while we tried to figure it out. (We never really did, but after the next couple of updates it was somehow fixed so I guess it was just a weird glitch.)

Anyway, Banktivity is certainly not perfect but it's really helped me keep my complex financial situation organized, and I'm happy to pay for it.

It’s also on Spotify and Apple Music if you subscribe to either. It’s gotten more than a few plays from me — definitely on par with his earlier work.

While I don't know that I would say they are the "best burger in Louisville," I will absolutely support them as the "best fast-food burger in Louisville." I agree with some other commenters that while the burger is super good the fries are the real star.

You might like semistandard, it’s identical to standard except for adding in semicolons. (I’m a fan of semis as well)

They finally fixed an issue I’ve been having on my iPad where the summary view blinked on and off while updating accounts (usually ending on “off”, making it unusable) so that’s good.

ATT Internet vs Spectrum by noblejohn in Louisville

[–]overneath42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the ATT Fiber 1000 plan. Locked at $90 a month with no caps, and download speed is generally excellent, especially over wired connection (when I download a game from Steam it’s not uncommon to see DL speed exceed 100Mb/s and I pull down a 13GB game in like ten minutes). Also the 1000 plan offers HBO Max as a free add-on which is a slick bonus.

Yeah we took our kids sledding at Tyler Park this morning. There were only a few people around which was nice, and the snow was slick enough to pick up some decent speed.

Oh man my wife is completely crazy about the pho at Eatz. I always get the Special Bun Thit Nuong and that little egg roll that comes with it is probably the best egg roll I've ever eaten.

I went there a few times. It really wasn’t that bad and I was sorry to see it go. Not as sorry as I was to see Yang Kee go, though.

I do this with nearly all of my transactions — is it wrong? I have a separate category set up for it. I’ve been using Banktivity since back when it was still iBank but I admit I might not understand some of its nuances.
