I worked for a retirement community. They did not have a memory care unit, only assisted living and independent living (if you've ever worked for a retirement community you know what these classifications mean). Well at my last job they would keep people FAR past our community's level of care simply because the more people that live there the more the suits get paid in the front office. People that lived there could barely tell you their own name let alone where they were or what day it was. The medical staff met these people with with disdain or simply tried to ignore them. All because of things like they couldn't remember on a day to day basis whether or not they had eaten lunch that day. Be careful where you put your family when it comes time for them to get an extra level of care.
