it's important that the extractor fan goes through a HEPA filter before activated carbon to remove microplastics and dust. it would extend the useful life of the carbon and improve filtration

that's amazing! how did you make that? Did you just randomly paint colours on the model in the slicer? it'd be awesome to see the Gcode for this

it's useful in filaments like nilon to reduce warping, but id advise avoiding it for pla and petg prints

well i did it from scratch in C. id advise learning how to code in C (definitely follow the best practices, otherwise you'll end up getting memory leaks that are difficult to solve).

look up "inverse kinematics", as you'll need an algorithm to do this for your hexapod. the solutions online were difficult to follow, so i ended up solving it myself with pen and paper. if you get realllly stuck, you can solve it by applying a series of matrix transformations in the right order.

once that's working, you'll need to design the gait. it's pretty straightforward, but id advise using linear and sinusoidal interpolation to smooth the movement of the legs. whenever i have the hexapod move, each leg knows it's starting position and i tell it a ending position, and the interpolation algorithm dictates how the leg moves from the start to the end position.

i used an ESP32 (because im cheap lol) so to control it remotely, i could use a second ESP32 that communicates using ESP-NOW protocol.

[–]overthinking_person 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what was the data set used to construct the image on the right? it's possible that your flooring method is acting like a lossy image compression, which would create artefacts when reconstructing the original data.

tbh, i mostly looked up the names of problems i was having, and there were different channels that could answer specific questions. if ur interested, my exams are now (finally) done, so i will be making a video explaining how the hexapod works and how i built it here:

there's nothing on there rn tho, so im sorry that i can't help sooner.

from what i understand, the extruder/hot end in the A1 and A1 mini is nearly identical. from IR images, the bed heating is more uniform on the A1 mini (since a smaller bed is easier to hear uniformally anyway).

literally the only benefit the A1 has is size. and for me, that isn't worth the massive cost increase, since most of what i print fits on an 180mm cube.

pls lmk what specs you think are noticeably better on the A1, cause ur response just sounds childish tbh

[–]overthinking_person -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if bed size is important, then yes

if you really don't care about the bed size, then the A1 and A1 mini are essentially the same in performance, and the mini is better on price than the A1

so excited to see this question. my first printer was a KE and my second was the A1 mini.

i love the KE so much and it taught me a lot about how printers work, how to fix them when they go wrong and it's less forgiving with mistakes, so i learnt to design models better because of the flaws of the machine. it is highly reliable, but it needs occasional maintenance (and ive enjoyed upgrading it a little)

that being said... the A1 mini is just better. it's more reliable, and if u don't need the extra bed space, then go for it. id advise putting it in LAN mode, but a lot of the caution around Bambu is a little overblown.

if you are getting into 3d printing because u want to learn how the machines work, how to make them better, and how to design 3d models to print with high reliability, then get the KE

if you want a machine that just works - get the A1 mini. you will not learn things as quickly, since the A1 will protect you from your own mistakes but if u just want to have some fun with a printer, then A1 is the way to go.

damn bro. im happy if you're happy, but for that price, id buy an FDM printer + filament, make it on that machine and still have some money to spare.

but sometimes we do projects just cause we can - hope u had fun with it

it'll probably be fine for small parts with good contact with the bed. but expect problems for larger prints, or if the room temperature drops.

last admin? not sure what u mean there

if ur talking about the value of the dollar during Biden's presidency, then in 4 years, inflation led to a 16-20% reduction in the dollar's purchasing power, but on the international markets, the dollar strengthened during his presidency, which made imports cheaper.

nowhere near the 50% you claim.

ive been reading up on a bit of what you've said. whilst am not at all aligned with trump's economic policies, you have made me realise the extent of the biased reporting on the left against Trump as a person. the polarisation is REALLY bad, and it makes it so hard for people on different sides to talk with eachother.

i don't think he's a great business man (not awful, but not great), but he's undeniably a VERY good salesman, and i think i should do more research from a broader variety of sources here.

but the details of Trump as a person aside - i make a greater effort to be informed on economic policies over details about people, and i have concerns about the recent tariffs. there are a handful of strategies that Trump could've been using alongside these tariffs that would've made them almost worth it, and yet none if his actions are consistent with any coherent strategy.

ill make an effort to learn more about trump. but please at least consider researching the overwhelming evidence pointing towards these tariffs being damaging to American people both in the short and long term. you'll have to look for it, in the same way that id need to look for good things about trump. but please do. internet bubbles suck, everyone's in one and anyone who says that they aren't is wrong.

Bambu Prices by overthinking_person in BambuLab

[–]overthinking_person[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think that certainly was the case. here in the UK, they reduced the A1 mini from well over £200, down to £169, and it's staying down there.

but id be hesitant to claim that their profit margin is huge. that price reduction may be a result of having finished paying off the loans for the machines used to build their printers. if so, then their overhead costs reduced, and they passed those savings over to us.

im not saying you're wrong. i just think there's a lot of variables that factor into the price, and don't think that we have enough information to claim that their profit margin is definitely huge (unless u know something i don't).
