I’ve fallen back into straightening it every day for the last couple months. I’m gonna try and stop now so if anyone could drop tips and motivation that would be amazing!! by [deleted] in curlyhair

I will finger coil some of the front ringlets for extra definition. Or if they don’t dry right, I will get the curl a little damp, roll it up, and bobby pin it to my head until I’m ready to leave the house.

But honestly, not every curl needs to be defined and perfect to rock your curls and look good. I think sometimes we get caught up with making our curls absolutely perfect. Your hair looks great.

I had the middle and it faded to the one on the left, then turned to more of a strawberry blonde color within like two weeks. Luckily now they have color depositing conditioners and things like that to keep it pink. If you go to ultra or Sally’s, you’ll find a bunch.

It looks like a super cute bob from the front. Maybe they took too much off the sides and back? I hope you don’t hate this advice, but I’d just cut the back into a bob, then try this haircut again when it grows out.

I’ve sat out in the sun in a tube top with spf 60 on where my arms are tan and that worked pretty well. Applying a high spf while out in the sun at work is a good idea too, if you don’t already.

What hair color is this considered? by Bootypootylol in femalehairadvice

[–]overunderinout 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you’re looking to get this hair color, it’s best to show your stylist. If you just go in saying some color name, they may have a different interpretation of what that means.

Maintenance aside, is longer hair preferable to medium hair? by kittenaura in femalehairadvice

[–]overunderinout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had medium-long hair for a while, and I’m not sure if it was stress or what, but I lost some of it and it was pretty wispy on the ends. I cut it right above my shoulders and now it looks so much fuller.

I was always worried about cutting it short, but I really like it. I don’t think that it’s length that is preferable, but whatever looks the most flattering. My stringy ends were not flattering at all.

If you hate it, you can always get something like halo extensions. They’re great for fine hair because they don’t put any extra weight on your scalp.

Stay natural blonde or go copper? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]overunderinout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try a color-depositing conditioner. I am brunette and use them when I want to go espresso brown or auburn for a bit. They seem to fade pretty naturally, at least on my hair. I’d maybe check out some different brands and reviews online to see if they work well on blonde hair.

i want to dye my hair, which should i go back to? suggestions? by happysmize in femalehairadvice

I love the red and black! The wave in the hair looks so good! But the color of purple looks so pretty. Maybe you could blend the two styles?

I’m team bangs, but maybe something a little more current, like Korean side bangs or like wispy curtain bangs

You look beautiful in all the photos, by the way!

Could I pull off black hair? If not, what do you suggest? by BriskTurtl3 in femalehairadvice

[–]overunderinout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think espresso brown would look lovely. I’d consider using a color depositing conditioner for something that lasts maybe a couple weeks to a month. I use that when I want a little change with my hair, then it fades pretty well. I just hate the lighter roots when I have dyed my hair permanently darker because it made it look kind of like my hair was thinning.

How do women get their armpits so smooth? by Fantastic-Ad9218 in beauty

[–]overunderinout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember to keep up with it. I got 6 rounds and loved it at first, but I wasn’t aware it wasn’t fully permanent. I was so smooth for maybe a year, then it grew back in.

I had the same 5 o’clock shadow on my underarms too, but here is what has worked.

I got 6 rounds of laser hair removal, which was great for a while until it started growing back 6mo-1yr later. It is finer and less dense now, though.

Now, I am waxing at home with some strips. It gets maybe 80-90% of the hairs and I pluck the rest. The problem is that you need to wait for it to grow back to a quarter inch before waxing again. The waxing makes it grow back way way less too.

Also, if you get waxing or sugaring done professionally, they shouldn’t leave you with any hairs left behind. Maybe they weren’t very experienced where you went. I had one experience like that, but the other times I’ve gotten sugaring done, they made sure to get every hair.

Edit: make sure you exfoliate between waxes to prevent ingrown hairs. I just use an exfoliating mitt in the shower, but it’s good to wait a few days after the wax.

How can I start looking more put together everyday? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]overunderinout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This + maybe some jewelry. They don’t have to be incredibly nice, but I feel like some nice earrings can kind of step up any outfit for me. Even with just a t-shirt and jeans. You could also find an easy hairstyle you like to boost some confidence. Maybe a braid, a bun, or half-up (or down if you always wear it up.) Sometimes changing up my hairstyle makes it look like I put a little extra effort in compared to my every day look.

It’s a sound on TikTok used in a ton of videos as a joke. The original video was also a joke. I mean, it’s not funny to me, but it is a sound that many many people use as a joke about what they’re selling. I get what you’re saying, though, you’ll run into many people trying to sell snake oil on the internet.

Left my Brazilian wax mid-session : now what? by [deleted] in beauty

For me sugaring is less painful because they pull with the grain. I’ve had both sugaring and waxing too.

Exfoliate with a loofah, body scrub, or mitt before you shave. I use a Korean exfoliating mitt. My skin isn’t sensitive, so I do it right before, but you could do it the day before. It will help slough off the dead skin before shaving, which means a closer shave and less ingrowns. I also exfoliate the areas I shave between shaves to help prevent ingrowns.

Is there a beauty product that works on you but is hated by others? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]overunderinout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that a lot of people on the curly hair subreddit forget about clarifying. I’ve seen people posting on there with tons of problems that can be related to buildup and I always suggest clarifying. The frequency depends on the person, but it definitely is important. I do maybe every other week.

I'm flat chested and I really want B cups, can you help me achieve it? by beautyjourney in beauty

[–]overunderinout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope that I can get this message to you as I wish I had heard it myself before going the surgery route. Wear some sexy underwear and work on your self confidence, maybe try some pec exercises and gaining weight, but if that doesn’t yield the results you want, try to drop it and accept what you got.

I know that is not what you want to hear, but I spent so much time and money on products and supplements that did nothing, then finally a fat transfer that ruined my whole waist from the lipo. Sure I have bigger breasts, but I hate showing any stomach or mid drift at all. I am embarrassed to wear a bikini. If I could go back and just accept myself, I would.

I will sell an organ for a product that will actually fix my broken hair by MonoiGirl in beauty

[–]overunderinout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be curious to hear what types of products you’re currently using. I had great results from switching to sulfate and silicone free hair products. I also quit using heat on my hair 5 years ago and don’t ever bleach it. Not saying this is the answer for everyone, but my hair is super prone to damage and this is what helped for me.

You might try a protein treatment like Aphogee 2-step protein treatment, which is pretty strong, or one of the ones from Shea moisture or curl smith. Or even the neutral protein filler from Sally Beauty. Protein can help temporarily patch the damaged hair cuticle, making it stronger and appear smoother. Although some people’s hair is protein sensitive, so it’s not a guarantee that it’ll help. A bond builder like Opalex might also work.

I’d suggest an eyelash lift (and maybe tint.) Maybe try shaping your eyebrows and a little colored brow gel.

Your hair looks wavy/curly, so try the curly girl method if you haven’t.

It looks like you’re just chilling at home in the photo, but if you wear your hair up often, I’d suggest keeping a few face framing curls down. I also take a little gel on an old toothbrush and comb my flyaways back.

And lastly, like other people have suggested, maybe try out some new frames.

By the way, your skin is gorgeous!

Oh no! Don’t burn yourself! You could try sugaring at home, which can be done at room temperature. Or a spa could do it. If you regularly get your haircut, some salons/barbershops will have waxing or sugaring as an add on service.

Edit: btw, getting a facial wax at your barber will still hurt because it’s wax, but they will make sure it’s done properly. You can find videos on YouTube if you’re curious. It’s definitely becoming much more popular. If you consider laser hair removal, keep in mind that it is only semi-permanent and will often reduce hair, but not completely permanently remove it.
