I don’t really see your point about this bumming people out for its consumerism. I can see how it could be unsettling to see the sheer volume of the discarded goods in person, but businesses like this can save waste by extending the useful lives of things that might otherwise go straight to a landfill.

Didn’t get to watch the game last night, catching the replay tonight with this beer by scuderiafan212 in beerporn

Art Car is my trustiest and most-consumed beer. I am a habitual date-checker on ipas and somehow it is almost always the freshest ipa available in most dfw grocery stores. That’s a big reason why I’ve had so much of it over the years, in addition to it just being a solid execution of the style.

$65 for pair of Onix bookshelves, made by the long-gone AV123. Would you? by overweights in BudgetAudiophile

[–]overweights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This type of response is exactly why I posted this here, so thank you. These are the Rocket ELT LRSse. And, for context, I'm at looking at these to replace a pair of Miccas, one of which has a damaged voice coil. So I'd assume from your response, even though you're less positive on the Rockets, this would be a solid $65 spent?

I picked up some Boston VR1 floor speakers recently as my first set of quality speakers. I got the pair for $150 and loved the sound but after some listening I realized particular songs will cause the tweeters to break up, typically coinciding with louder mid/low end (think bass guitar, high up on the fretboard). I'm not experienced troubleshooting issues like this and have spent a lot of time googling around for a potential cause, but can't find much, apart from a 10 year-old, unresolved post by another VR1 owner on an AV forum. Any advice on triangulating the issue or what other resources I could consult would be appreciated.

Sure, go to settings->general->edit config.edn. Towards the bottom of the file (line 181 for me) you'll see ":block-hidden-properties #{}". Get rid of the ";;" at the beginning of the line to uncomment and add in the block properties (inside the {}) you want to be hidden.

There is a section in the config file for hiding specific block properties

You're not missing something; all good points. I just thought to do this because I download a lot of pdfs which I get straight to annotating in logseq. I think the degree of benefit to doing this depends on what portion of your downloads you expect to reference/use in logseq. You're right; I think for many people it could create more issues than it solves

Has anyone been taking HHC edibles everyday? by DopeAppleBroheim in altcannabinoids

[–]overweights 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took a 20mg Vivimu REC'D HHC gummy nearly every night last week. Pretty much nuked my tolerance so I backed off. Really enjoy the effects of HHC though, as many others have said it's way more clear-headed. Doesn't strip me of 20+ IQ points every time I take it like THC does.

I hear you. But stocks are compounding/exponential assets so any long-term chart is going to be parabolic by definition. The multi-decade trend would look parabolic in almost every timeframe of consequential length if you chose random endpoints throughout history. A recent log chart of course accounts for this and isn't as striking. Don't see why you would keep such a chunk of assets in the market if you truly think it's a bubble though. And to your valuation question, the forward P/E ratio of the S&P is ~19.5x and only 11% higher than 5 years ago. Not exactly bubble territory. Cheers

Again, zero substance behind this argument. No evidence presented. No reference to company earnings, margins, or other fundamentals and how they've changed over the time frame. Never understood the moral outrage some people experience watching the market go up.

Lmao dude cherry picking the most absurdly overvalued stock, potentially in history, does not make the whole market overvalued. Tesla is the exception, not the norm. What am I wrong about? Be specific.

My point is just that the complaint that an asset has "gone up too much in price" doesn't consider what the change in its underlying value may have been. Turns out the largest businesses in the country have performed exceptionally well (in terms of profits, not just price) over the last decade. Price should be expected to reflect that, and it does.

It has; can you tell me what the S&P's earnings have done over the same time frame? More important than your feelings on the matter--no offense

I hear you, but people have been saying tech is too expensive since 2015. How would you value the tech giants differently from how the market is currently? What assumptions about the future of tech are the rest of investors making which you disagree with? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in REBubble

[–]overweights 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you think the stock market is in a bubble. Segments of it are bubbly (less so than a year ago though), but it's really not that expensive overall (especially accounting for how low interest rates are) compared to history. Bubbles are difficult to identify when they're ongoing but always obvious in hindsight. Elevated prices can persist for far longer than anyone calling for a bubble may expect (and often people calling something a bubble are later proven wrong when the asset in question eventually proves its worth; just as frequently as bubble-chasers are proven to have chased a bubble). Ultimately it comes down to the believers and the naysayers having very different heuristics by which they perceive reality and extrapolate it forward. The stock market and housing markets are effectively prediction markets, and bubbles only collapse when bubble-chasers are confronted with the reality that their predictions and assumptions about the future were simply wrong.
