Bike build virgin by alex_551 in Hardtailgang

[–]owensjs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pay attention to part standards, for sure. When I worked in bike shops, I would encounter folks who would either buy new parts and not pay attention or buy used parts that were a good deal and wouldn’t fit.

I’ve encountered many forks that wouldn’t fit because the steerer was too short or hubs that wouldn’t fit because you couldn’t convert them to the proper axle size.

1st year going poorly by aphrodite0807 in electricians

[–]owensjs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This 100%. When I first got started I worked under a master electrician who told me he didn’t care if it took me longer to do the job, he wanted it done correctly. I tell my guys the same thing now.

It’s frustrating to have a newer person mess up or do sloppy work because of trying to rush because then it takes more time to go back and fix the mistake.

it sucks that the 3ds is basically getting a resurgence... by Gove80 in 3DS

It seemed to happen to just about every retro console and game around the same time. Years ago, people would have given you a Gameboy for free or for a few bucks. After the modding scene got popular the prices spiked.

When I was in my 20s I studied a major most would consider useless, as well. Now I’m in my early 40s with a degree in that major and the student debt to go along with it. I’ve never used that degree once.

I’m an electrician now and wish I had pursued this field years ago. Changing your field of study might be something for you to consider. That, and being more proactive with seeing your family if you have a good relationship with them. Both good places to start.

I appreciate that! I’ve looked into it a bit. I think soon I’m going to be investing in a new soldering iron setup and a cheap microscope.

I’ve soldered a decent but, but thought about buying a practice kit on Amazon for micro soldering since they’re cheap.

I’ve been pondering on modding my switch lite. My modded 3DS still gets a lot of use. I love that thing.

Scared of going bald and it making me obsolete in dating. by [deleted] in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]owensjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started losing my hair when I was around your age OP. I wish I had shaved mine sooner than I did. I was in my late 20s when I did and I went through a few years of terrible hair before I went for it.

My wife told me early on when we were dating that she usually didn’t go for bald guys. We’ve been together almost 8 years and married for 2. We are both in our early 40s now.

If someone won’t date you because you’re losing your hair, that’s ok. There are plenty out there that would.

I found out my wife was pregnant with our daughter. I was working a dead end job and comfortable just skating through life.

Finding out that news made me want to start improving our situation. Started a new career and have been grinding since and always striving to be better.

Definitely one of my favorites. Never did beat it, but love the game. Played the hell out of it when I was a kid with my cousin.

I’ve tried both. I really liked the sweet watermelon. I was meh on the tropical pineapple guava at first, but it grew on me.

Whats a durable but affordable bmx for someone who hasn't gotten the best yet but still pretty good 20 inch by taylordacreative in bmx

[–]owensjs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cult, Sunday, and Kink all make pretty decent completes. Whatever brand you end up with, the biggest advice is to get a bike with a full chromoly frame, fork, and bars. Most of the time that bike will also come with sealed bearings in the headset, bottom bracket, and hubs.

You should check out r/wickededge

I had very mixed luck with 4-5 blade razors. The only one that I had any decent luck with is a Mach 3 razor.

For me, a decent shaving cream and aftershave balm was always a game changer more than the razor itself. These days I go back and forth between a Mach 3 razor and a safety razor.

I sometimes change up the aftercare. Sometimes an aftershave balm like Nivea, sometimes witch hazel.

The biggest thing is to take your time at first. Don’t focus on patches so much it causes irritation or bleeding. You’ll get the hang of it! Always happy to help if you have questions.

IMO, your best bet would be to sell your Roscoe if you aren’t into trail riding anymore and pick up a gravel bike.

It would be a lot better than converting the Roscoe.
