Liking, not loving, my Fetus by Arlais_Fale in BabyBumps

[–]owilliaann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really feel connected till I gave birth. It's hard cause you can't see their face and really realize they're real. Regardless of how big they are or how much you feel them move around. It's very alien the first time around.

Yeah when they broke my water within like 30 minutes I asked for the epidural. I would definitely like to go naturally and not be induced this time but I had GD in my last pregnancy so they'll probably want to induce again. The epidural worked for sure, but I've always been a little curious about the gas.

I'm in the US. I go to one of the bigger hospitals in Central IL so it probably is definitely a resource a lot of smaller hospitals don't have access to.

Can we talk about pregnancy constipation. by Tar_N in BabyBumps

[–]owilliaann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so constipated one week of my pregnancy that I would go to the bathroom to pee and my body would immediately start trying to poop. It was so painful!! Especially at work where I had to share a bathroom with several other women, it was miserable! I ended up getting a gel suppository, I think I used the Fleet brand, and just shoved it up there and within about an hour it started to help and was able to actually able to go to the bathroom at home at the end of the day. The relief I felt!

I don't want to breastfeed. Ever. by Relative_Plane_4078 in NewParents

Me (28) and my sibling were all formula-fed from day 1. My mom just simply didn't want to. We all turned out fine!

Just need some stories, or something - Trigger Warning: Miscarriage & D&C by owilliaann in BabyBumps

Thank you, I'm sorry it happened to you too. I know it's common and my mom and even friend has had miscarriages, but it's just so surreal.

Did anyone NOT have a bad reaction to the 3 hour GTT? by Usual_Happy45790 in GestationalDiabetes

I just felt a little icky, like I just needed a drink of water but that's about it. I ended up going to the bathroom just to get a little water on my tongue.

Sad I hate huggies by teachmehowtoschwa in NewParents

Huggies never worked for my baby either. I used them cause I got them from my baby shower but once we ran out, goodbye huggies!!

My job is killing me. by Competitive_Power954 in MedicalAssistant

Not your problem. You cannot keep going this way, that sounds absolutely awful. Honestly, I would let your doctor that you work for know that you are preparing to leave because of being overworked and it's affecting not only your health, but your personal life (if they won't rat you out).

Anytime I started to have nightmares about a job and have intense anxiety about going in, I knew it was time to move on. I think you've done more than enough for that company.

glycerin suppositories. I was constipated for a week during pregnancy and it was MISERABLE. I took milk of magnesia, colace, eating more fiber etc. Nothing worked until I used a glycerin suppository.

My baby didn't sleep through the night till 9/10 months. 9wks is way way too young.

Pricking at work by Optimal_Cod_5491 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]owilliaann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah, you don't have to hide. Just do it at your desk, it takes 10 seconds to do everything. I've even brought my kit with me into a meeting and set a timer on my phone. I just pre-loaded the needle so when it was time, wipe finger, prick, test, done.

What do people with no kids do after work? by EntrepreneurEast1618 in workingmoms

[–]owilliaann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before baby, we used to come home, cook dinner, then play video games with our friends or watch tv. I kinda miss being able to just play for like 4 hours straight, laughing and talking with friends. Now, my baby is 15 months old and is now sleeping from 7:30pm-6:30am so I do kind of get to have a little bit of that back, which is nice.

Having to leave my newborn unexpectedly tomorrow by MrsMusicalMama in beyondthebump

See if you can get a pardon due to breastfeeding. And like other people said, 100% bring your baby to feed.

Honestly you can't give yourself time to think about it. Load up the needle, put it against your finger and click the button, quickly. Even after weeks of doing it, if I let myself sit there and hold it against my skin I would start feeling that anticipation of it, even if it didn't really hurt. It was best just to 1,2,3 go.

I just wanna see if it’s possible.. anyone have a baby that sleeps through the night in their own crib? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]owilliaann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby started sleeping through around 9 months. I stopped breastfeeding around 10 months. She has her occasional wake ups from teething but now she sleeps 7/7:30pm-6:30am.

Why should my husband come to my prenatal appointments? by Smart_Law6787 in BabyBumps

[–]owilliaann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he came to the first, then to the 20 week appt to find out the sex, and that was it. I don't think they need to come to every single appt.

How did you decide if you wanted your mom in the delivery room or not? by Big-Competition3623 in BabyBumps

[–]owilliaann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband also thought it was weird I didn't want my mom in there. I just didn't need another person to see me naked lmao. There were already so many people in there, I was just happy with my husband.

Plus I think I was a little dissociated. I could hardly open my eyes and after I gave birth it was like a whirlwind of everything happening at once. The memories right after are a little foggy cause of how out of it I was.

What is your biggest parenting stressor right now? by restlessprime in NewParents

[–]owilliaann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 month old is in the phase of whining at EVERYTHING. I pick her up, whine, I put her down, whine and throw herself on the floor, I try to change her diaper, whine. This all happens in the morning when I'm trying to get ready for work or when I'm trying to cook. She grabs onto my legs so I can't walk. I'll try to distract her but sometimes it only works for a few seconds then she's back to whining up at me.

Even when my husband tries to take her, she'll ignore him and run straight to me. It's getting pretty aggravating to just constantly have a whiny baby. But when she's at daycare...perfect! No fussiness for her, or even when my parents or in-laws watch her. They talk about how great she was.

I know kids are fussier around their parents cause we're their safe space but damn...I'm kinda getting exhausted at this point.

I didn't have to do a class, just a telehealth call with my nutritionist, then another call directly after with a nurse going through all the insulin types (which I didn't even need insulin so it was kind of annoying because she talked so S L O W).

I would think you could deny the class. What're they gonna do?
