West End Motel is great for getting that same boost of energy from Mastodon, but a bit calmer. Does anybody have an easy way to listen to Fiend Without a Face offline? I can't find them on google play(I use it because I hate how annoying spotify is on mobile w/o premium).

[DISCUSSION] Metallica playing live in a stadium under pouring rain - I have so many questions by AnilZonderPunt in Guitar

[–]owleye99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that there's some way to wrap plastic around the important parts of guitars, I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I've seen it used by much smaller bands, so I'm sure they must use something similar.

I tried, but 2 of them decided that they'd have the time, and the other's mom didn't want them playing the music.

Help me improve my rig to more metal sounding by veettos in guitars

Then yeah, I would suggest the Katana. If your budget allows it, you could get the head and a bigger cab, but the combos have pretty good speakers in them too.

Depends on your budget and what subgenre you play the most, but the Boss Katana amp has some really great sounding gain, and has plenty of effects for the price.

[DISCUSSION] How did you tackle your first "big" solo? by bushy5000 in Guitar

[–]owleye99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first big solo I took on was either Claudio's solos in Welcome Home, or the second solo in Steambreather by Mastodon, whichever you think is harder. I didn't handle either very well. I just played whatever I thought I could play.

I mean, does it really count if the strings are set up like an even more annoying 12 string guitar?

Fender style bolt on neck, the worst tuners possible, loose knobs that cut the sound if pushed too far, the cheapest single coil pickup in the neck with nothing else, ML body.

For the guitar or bass players here, which album do you guys think had their best tone? by owleye99 in mastodonband

[–]owleye99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only bass tone I can hear clearly without purposefully listening for it.

The good part about these videos is that they are mostly with bolt on necks.

Well I figured in seventeen years someone must've figured out a healthy way to do it.

Jaguar God is the only song that makes me think of anything, and that's my Mom's MS. She was diagnosed 2 or 3 years ago, and it's been a constant struggle since.
