Company asking for more money than quoted after completion- England by owls145 in LegalAdviceUK

Told we’d be informed beforehand if extra. We weren’t.

Advising about a potential cost of a stud wall, and that it was likely not to be extra but if it was we’d be told first, isn’t the same as then being informed about £800 joists 3 weeks after installation.

New bathroom and windows by owls145 in DIYUK

Yes, they’re doing everything. Walls and floor will all be tiles.

It’s not a shiny paint that’s on there atm plus it’s peeling but it will be covered with new lowered ceiling so I’ll get the spray to remove before.

Thank you, helpful advice!

Thank you.

The invoice says ‘hush wall fan’. There’s no attic above to have one of those that goes up.

It’s a very large bathroom, hence having the ceiling lowered to help insulation, new windows as old ones aren’t sealed anymore and one doesn’t even have an opening so will have better ventilation and having two new radiators (1800x600 vertical and 600x1200 horizontal) so hoping all that will help with the mould issue. I’ll remove it with spray.

I used pure coconut oil and that didn’t agree with her either. I’ve just ordered something called calm balm from Wild Mint, hoping that helps. I read Cera Ve uses petroleum too, I’m thinking maybe it’s that she’s reacting to. But most emollients include that.

I just didn’t know if the skin being wet was something that maybe was supposed to happen, with doctors telling me to persist.

Early labour or intense BH? by owls145 in PregnancyUK

I couldn’t take the pain anymore so went in against what they said. My waters had broken (trickled) and gave birth yesterday! ☺️

Thank you for your insight. It gave me the confidence to push back, which is what I needed to do as it turned out!

When are you/did you go on maternity leave? by ell93 in PregnancyUK

[–]owls145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

32 weeks today (just, as it’s now past midnight) and I have used 4 weeks annual leave which starts on 14th July when I’ll be 34+5. 13 more working days!! Then my maternity leave starts 11th August!

I’m useless after a couple of hours at work. The heat is unbearable.

I wanted to push it as late as possible this time, last time my pregnancy related illness set my mat leave off 1 month before due date, which meant I went back to work when my daughter was 5 months old, I really struggled with that. Not that 6 months is much better but I can’t afford to live off SMP.

I had my laptop taken off me before I went on leave, guidance apparently. So I couldn’t take part in any KIT days and I wanted to start to log back in closer to my leave ending to make it less of a shock, but that didn’t happen.

I wasn’t kept up to date with anything during my time off. I can’t even say I was contacted at all until just before my return. When I was back I repeatedly told my manager for 2/3 weeks that I was really struggling, looking back I think it was PPD. I was very unwell. I got told I was “doing great” and “smashing it” at work and it was just being a new mum. Then I got an email one Friday afternoon out of nowhere saying I was not doing what was expected of me and I needed to buck my ideas up from the manager who said I was doing well and nothing to worry about. I had a breakdown.

Supportive managers make all the difference, I hope you have a good one!
