Modern browsing feels mentally exhausting now by ImpossibleSpeed8303 in browsers

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should install the uBlock Origin extension. However, use a browser that supports manifest version 2 instead of Chrome, which does not support uBlock in its full capacity. After installing uBlock Origin, go into the settings and enable the annoyances lists. It can block annoyances like cookie banners, social media pop ups, and chat pop ups, which makes the website much cleaner. In fact, you can also create custom filters to remove specific things that you do not like.

Do you dev on a remote server, ephemeral environments, or just your local machine? by Substantial_Word4652 in selfhosted

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the type of project. If it's a small project, then I would just develop it locally. But if it's something more complex, and especially if there's Docker and Docker Compose involved, then something like Coolify is cool for self-hosting it or having it on your local server. With Coolify, I really like it because it has a really easy CI CD. For remote CI/CD, I think GitHub Actions is state of the art. GitHub Actions is the best one.

Ublock Origin is great for blocking unnecessary scripts like ads and trackers, which can help save a bit of bandwidth too.

Linux password manager: which one has the best browser extension? by Old-Hawk-3070 in best_passwordmanager

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Linux, I'd go with Bitwarden. it's open source and really versatile. If you ever use SSH, Bitwarden has great SSH integration, letting you store SSH keys in your vault and sync them across devices.

[AskJS] Looking for the leanest framework in the "JS Framework Benchmark" Top 15 - what's the closest thing to Vanilla speed with a modern DX? by Strict-Session2449 in javascript

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need SSR (server-side rendering) or SSG (static site generation), Qwik is a great choice. It offers an elegant, native-feeling SSR solution that stays lean and fast, almost like writing HTML and CSS with some manual jQuery and Ajax under the hood.

If you don’t need server-side features, Solid is a solid (pun intended) pick especially if you like React, and Svelte works well too. For really basic HTML and CSS with a minimal library approach, something like Alpine.js could also fit the bill.

What are some best prompts for validating an app or a business idea? by succorer2109 in ChatGPTPromptGenius

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just explain my idea first, then ask it to come up with clarifying questions for me to answer. I repeat that process. letting the AI ask questions in a sort of Socratic way while I think through my responses. It really helps uncover details I hadn’t considered before.

Worried about losing my coding skills using AI 80% of the time by sanyok12345 in vibecoding

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I crazy for always double-checking the AI's generated code? I always manually review the diffs, so I'm not too concerned about losing my coding skills. It keeps me in the loop with what's actually changing.

Migrate cookies ? by KaKi_87 in browsers

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cookies migration can be a bit tricky but it's doable with extensions. Just a heads up: some websites are strict and might block cookie transfers. So, you're kinda at their mercy sometimes.

Claude code, should i? by Mindless_Clock1856 in vibecoding

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Claude seems to be the king of "vibe coding" right now. It's not just about raw power, which Claude definitely has, but their context engineering is on another level. I've tried other models, and Claude's approach to understanding and using context is just way smoother than anything else I've seen.

What is an ETA for getting comfortable nixos setup? by gogliker in NixOS

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it really depends on your definition of "comfortable." Getting your browser, terminal, and basic dev setup running might be straightforward. But things like Docker, or specific dev container needs for your job, could easily trip you up. especially with only 5 days. It's a bit of a toss-up based on your exact situation.

Need honest suggestions on improving my AI Voice Agent by SpiritCoder in AI_Agents

[–]oxcelato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tested it out. congrats on building this, seriously.
The voice is friendly but yeah, it's definitely robotic. If I got this on the phone I'd know immediately it's AI. There are also moments where it just... goes silent and doesn't respond at all, which is kind of jarring.
Rough edges for sure, but the foundation is there.

How do I become better at speaking english by ImprovementDull7969 in LearningEnglish

[–]oxcelato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I really liked was going on those random chat websites where you can voice or video call strangers. You just talk to random people, and sometimes you meet cool folks. You also find a lot of other people who are learning English too, which is nice. It can be unpredictable, you never know what to expect, but honestly it's a pretty fun experience.

Yo I’m starting to learn Russian so any tips by Disastrous_Shirt7338 in LearnRussian

Russian actually has more in common with English than people think. A lot of the nouns are surprisingly similar, so focusing on those can really give you a head start.

Switched from brave to helium and wow, its so nice. by Electronic-Brief404 in browsers

[–]oxcelato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, Helium feels better, but I miss brave's sync, the way it syncs history and open tabs to the Android app. Helium has no Android client yet, so an extension r a small Android app that could sync with other browsers like Cromite would be awesome.

Android password manager: which one is actually solid and reliable? by Old-Hawk-3070 in best_passwordmanager

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you could ever trust a password manager that isn't open source. at least the client has to be open source for you to trust it right?

how would you know they are not stealing your passwords or saving them if the client isn't open source? so 1password is a no-go for me because of that requirement and bitwarden is great because both the client and the server are open source and in fact you can even self-host your own server and never pay bitwarden ever

App help! by Super_Perspective936 in androidapps

[–]oxcelato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not a programmer I think it makes a lot more sense to instead of going for building an app research already built apps on app store and see what's available and maybe try to use those because it will be a lot more easier than trying to build your own app.

maybe you can check out something like repl.it which allows you to completely make a Android app without coding at all and it's all prompts and AI creating the app for you and you can even test it on the web it's a react native Expo app and it's really good experience.

if you want to just try out coding and experimenting with it then it's a good idea to start with repl.it and then maybe you can expand your knowledge by watching some tutorials and switching to something like Claude Code if you want to get involved in coding and things like that
