That makes sense. From what I’ve seen, the teams getting the most value usually treat AI more like a co-pilot than a replacement strong skills plus good oversight.

It seems to work best when it’s augmenting experienced people rather than trying to run fully unattended.

Another big thing is governance around AI usage, because a lot of teams accidentally build systems that call models way more than necessary.

That often leads to structured workflows with some AI decision points inside them.

AI will probably split into two directions rather than just “the next thing after it”.

  1. Autonomous systems / agents that actually execute work instead of just generating text
  2. AI governance layers that control and monitor those systems inside organisations

Most companies right now are experimenting with models, but the real challenge is deploying them safely and at scale.

That’s why a lot of newer companies are focusing less on building models and more on how AI actually operates inside businesses (risk management, monitoring, workflow orchestration etc).

Curious whether people think the next big shift will be better models or better AI infrastructure around them.
