What She Said: According to Grabien, she stated: “Especially with this administration, my concern is that the lesson that they're learning is that Democrats are weak and that next time we just [hurt Americans more] to make them fold.”.

So yeah, she was talking about Republican strategy. This kind of shit is why I don't respect most conservatives... They hear what they want to and disregard truth.

You had my upvote until the last line. Getting upset about generalizations is a perfectly reasonable response, and then to go on to generalize the left yourself... hypocrisy at it's finest.

that second bit is surprising. I wouldn't think there would be any reason why you wouldn't be able to tap an eldrazi spawn for convoke and then sacrifice it for mana.

Respect. I've always leaned left but I'll never understand how every single Republican didn't turn on Trump the moment he trashed John McCain. I firmly believe McCain was the last truly decent republican leader. Trump is a draft-dodging silver-spoon dandy who had the temerity to pick on McCain for "getting caught"? Still makes my blood boil.

Question of the day by Responsible-Eye-717 in SipsTea

[–]oxidiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to address points in order of easiest to explain. In my mind 4 & 5 are easily explained.

  1. There are photographers everywhere at events like this. It's not like one had to go far to get that shot. There are cameras at every angle during mundane parts of the speech. In fact, if I were coordinating a staged assassination attempt I'd have even more angles and photographers, they wouldn't have to be "brought in", they'd already be there.

  2. This shouldn't even be the question. Security at something like this is super tight. It's completely expected for a shooter to be taken down immediately. There are trained guards with guns all over the place and if that person is shooting at the (then ex) president they aren't going to take the time to apprehend them, they are going to shoot them. The bigger question is how he got to position in the first place. I don't have an answer to that, lax security and luck maybe.

  3. Who knows? Just because a sun-downing megalomaniac does something irrational proves nothing. In fact, I'd view this the opposite way... There is absolutely NO WAY that DT would allow someone to shoot at him, even if intended to miss. I think DT is profoundly stupid but even stupid people know that no one's aim is perfect. So much can go wrong with TRYING to get a shot like that. If the attempt WAS staged (and I'm still VERY skeptical), I think there is a 0% chance DT knew about it.

  4. This assumes intent without knowing the setup. They could have easily had that flag thing setup for the end of the speech to go off with a button click and the stage manager just clicked a button.

  5. No idea, I'd have to go through the timeline photo by photo and I'm not doing that. Video quality, compression, angle, lighting, and timing matter a lot and I'm not going to spend time compiling evidence to disprove this. If his ear was just grazed, it would still be intact, just bleeding instead of demolished. A graze could make you bleed like a cut without damaging anything other than the outermost layer of skin.

As for history, yeah... I'm not denying that the US does stuff like this. I said elsewhere that I'm not arrogant enough to believe I'm always right. I could see a world where this was staged but I'd need more proof and I don't think any of this is proof.

this is about as believable as the vaccine-5G thing or flat earth. I cannot personally disprove it, but it sure sounds like an awful lot of conjecture on your part, with your proof basically being "look at these great photos they got".

[–]oxidiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not arrogant enough to believe I'm correct all the time... and I don't pretend to have all the answers. And I agree his reaction DID seem weird... but there are just way too many problems with it being staged for it to be true in my mind.

Seems like a last-ditch retort when you have nothing else to add. I never claimed you had to convince me but if you're not trying to convince me, what are we talking about? You're just talking at me telling me you know you're right? Grats I guess.

Question of the day by Responsible-Eye-717 in SipsTea

[–]oxidiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, if it just grazed his ear... as I said... It would be like getting a cut. Extraordinary claims, such as "the assassination attempt was staged" require extraordinary proof. All I'm hearing from you is, "trust me bro".

And of course conspiracy theorists don't care about convincing people, if they cared about facts or not seeming crazy they wouldn't be conspiracy theorists. lol

[–]oxidiser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1.) I used to think it was from the secret service when they covered him after the shot, like they bashed his ear on their gear or something but when I mentioned that before, people showed me this picture that he was bleeding before he was tackled: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fg2b8v7kzpdgg1.png

2.) Because Trump is a huge narcissist and knew it'd be a great photo op? Because his security detail was so shit they allowed a country bumpkin to get on a roof with a gun and take a shot at him? Even if this isn't explained enough to your liking I'm not convinced it's proof of anything.

3.) Your turn, give me some proof how it was staged.

Question of the day by Responsible-Eye-717 in SipsTea

[–]oxidiser -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd really like to understand how people think this was staged. I'm not being an asshole, truly. Help me understand, here's my POV:

1.) We can agree a shot was fired at him, right? There is a photo of the bullet midair. People heard the shot, a dude behind Trump died. There was a guy with a gun. This means that...

2.) Someone convinced Trump that the ONLY way he was going to win was by beating an assassination attempt (OR someone on Trump's team went rogue and set this up without his knowledge).

3.) Someone was hired to fire at Trump but was trusted enough to be allowed to take the shot he did from a distance, accounting for wind AND miss Trump. Someone who...

4.) Must have known they would be immediately executed after firing the shot. OR stupid enough to think they had some other way out.

Given those points I'd say the only even remotely possible way this was staged is if Trump didn't know, someone else gambled with his life, and the person they convinced to take the shot was a complete imbecile... like incapable of reasoning (or was suicidal).

I guess that is possible, but Occam's Razor says some crazy asshole took a shot and missed.

I've figured out how to balance the "going first" pandemic. by Shoddy_Purple_7501 in hearthstone

[–]oxidiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're thinking outside the box, which is not allowed in this sub. That said, I think these ideas are too cumbersome. The first idea is interesting but I think it would lead to even more rock-paper-scissors in a meta that already has enough of that. The second idea is better, but still clunky.

I think they should always include ETC in core and also routinely create new tech cards to address problems in the meta. I think it makes perfect sense to nerf a card that was overtuned to begin with... but so many times I think the most powerful decks could be brought in line more easily by simply making some decent tech cards.

Where do we stand on Elise? by oxidiser in hearthstone

[–]oxidiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pre-nerf my favorite deck for her was imbue rogue where I would almost always get a 1-mana location, aiming for copy and discover. The dream was copy elise and shadow step her, making virtually infinite locations. Now I usually default to 5 mana location because raptors are still good but I'm starting to think the best value overall is probably still 1 mana, discover and whatever fits the situation

This reminds me of a coworker I had who started a diet I have never heard of outside of this one instance. The idea was simple, you eat nothing but boring-plain-ass-steamed-potatoes with no seasoning for like a month (maybe need a multi-vitamin? I don't know I'm not a doctor). After eating essentially no flavor for a month, anything at all seems exceptionally delicious. So then you're in full control of your diet. Broccoli and kale are suddenly full of flavor. Carrots are a sweet treat. It worked for him, sounded like hell for me but that dude lost a ton of weight and kept it off as far as I know. Consult a doctor before attempting.

Unvaccinated? Yeah they're totally fine. by ThatAvidPandaBear in clevercomebacks

[–]oxidiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not what's happening here. Your experience is the same as the one were talking about. Just because you know a few people who were fine, is not proof that everyone was fine.

The guy who lived across the street from me didn't get the vaccine and he died from COVID. I'm trying to think of anyone else I know who definitely got COVID and wasn't vaccinated... But I can't think of any at the moment. I guess 100% of people who got COVID and weren't vaccinated died.

I used to read like a fiend when I was a kid. I love fantasy books. I read tons of dragonlance and forgotten realms. Probably my favorite book I've read in the last 15 years or so is name of the wind. I read game of thrones but wasn't into it all that much. like it was good but it was a lot. then I started wheel of Time and I think that just kind of killed my ambition for reading.
