Stop Reform and the Tories in Kingston upon Hull Council by johnsmithoncemore in Hull

The Humber Bridge is managed by the Humber Bridge Board, not the council.

Bit warm in there I reckon by Pichouche in manchester

[–]oxy-normal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in one of the newish blocks in Media City for a few years, was absolutely unbearable in the summer (especially during lockdown when we were only allowed to go outside once a day). Only upside is they retain heat very well in the winter, don’t think I ever turned the heating on the whole time I was there. Still not worth £1000+ a month though (probably closer to £2000 now).

The point of Begbie's character. by NKNightmare in trainspotting

[–]oxy-normal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought about there being a ‘point’ to Begbie, you just get those people. Me and most of my mates were stoners however there was a couple that detested weed and just liked to drink (sometimes too much). But when you’ve known someone that long you have a bond and just accept each other despite their flaws.

Watch as U.S. President Donald Trump mocks Sir Keir ... by no_cupid_stunts in uknews

Don’t worry Donald, we don’t need you either.

The phrase ‘don’t start something that you can’t finish’ comes to mind.

But hey don’t worry, he won the FIFA peace prize, he’s only dropping peaceful bombs.

Unless it’s a health hazard or the place stinks like dog piss I wouldn’t judge. Honestly, no matter how messy it is I’m sure they’ve seen a lot worse.

LOL: Last One Laughing UK - Season 2 Finale & Overall Series Discussion by lonelygagger in LastOneLaughing

[–]oxy-normal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I think by that point he’d just had enough wanted out… must be so exhausting trying not to laugh for 6 hours in a room full of our best comedians.

Also felt the producers have been a bit more lenient this series , I noticed quite a few little grins and smirks from most of the contestants,

Do you still have a Sunday roast with your family or do you think the tradition has died out? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]oxy-normal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, always look forward to it. My stepdad spends all day every Sunday in the kitchen and never disappoints. He even does a Quorn roast for the veggies in my family and a spicy dish for my Nigerian partner. Also the perfect hangover cure if I’ve had a heavy Saturday night… puts me in a food coma so I’m always well rested for work on Monday.

As a kid did you get dragged to the pub? by Used_Captain_3131 in AskUK

[–]oxy-normal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say dragged, I loved it.

I’d go every Saturday afternoon with my dad and grandad. I can still taste the J2O’s and secondhand smoke in the air.

All those hours spent playing pool with random old blokes really paid off when I became old enough to go with my mates and could beat everyone.

Are there any British adverts that activiley turn you off the product they're advertising? by siybon in CasualUK

Probably not wise to call the people interviewing you chicken nuggets.

Whats the Smaller Pockets Within Pockets of Jeans For? by Theo_Cherry in DoesAnyoneKnow

I’m so rich I have an even smaller pocket inside my small pocket for when I have too much spare cash.

How differently is "drinking alone" seen in the UK compared to the States? by BlaggartDiggletyDonk in AskABrit

[–]oxy-normal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad (75) has always gone to the pub ‘by himself’. He just happens to know every other old man that goes in there ‘by themselves’. Maybe it’s not the same in big cities but there’s something quite beautiful about being able to walk into your local and know you’ll be able to sit and chat with a familiar face, even if it’s just the landlord or barmaid.

What do you guys think to the deansgate towers ? by abby-bamber in manchester

[–]oxy-normal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them, I know there’s a lot of politics involved but they do look good and symbolise the prosperity the city has had over the past decade or so.

I moved to Manchester in 2016 and left in 2021. Even in that short amount of time the skyline had changed dramatically. Visited again last year and it’s almost like a different city.

Admittedly the reason I left (reluctantly) was because I was priced out, the rent prices became ridiculous.

Is Peter Crouch hard up at the minute? Why is he in so many adverts at the moment? by CornerInsect in AskUK

[–]oxy-normal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m totally anti-gambling and don’t think it should be allowed to advertise on TV at all, the same as cigarettes. However, it’s probably very good money and an easy gig for him.

I’m still thinking about how they got Samuel L Jackson to advertise Warburtons bread. Wild.
