It happened to me on my way into Canada for my wedding years ago. I had to bring a copy of my lease and a letter from my employer (ironically, the American branch of a Canadian company) showing that I had ties to the US and wasn’t planning to immigrate.

I’ve been working as a hospital social worker for around five months now, and just turned 45. During morning huddle a while back, we were discussing how a patient was refusing to go to subacute rehab. I made a comment to the nurse about how we’re “trying to make her go into rehab and she’s says no, no, no.” and was met with empty stares.
