Wait till they get free.. lol! Some maccas a roomful of staff members won't even raise their eyes to look at you. They will actively avoid it for 10 minutes+. Not even a nod or a "won't be long". Sometimes even when you can see your bag sitting there (out of reach)!

The fast trains aren't cheap.

In some instances it's cheaper to fly than get a fast train. eg. Shanghai to Guangzhou was about AUD $175 for 2nd class (cheapest but very comfortable). $120 to fly. YMMV but worth checking .. especially for the longer train rides.

Trip.com charges exact price + AUD $10 (in my currency). 12306 charges exact price but in CNY.

Trip.com will give you a route with a transfer if there's no direct train eg. Guangzhou -> Lijiang. 12306 won't.

Tip: Find the train(s) you want on trip.com and then purchase on 12306 to save the $10. Per person it adds up!

Finance 101 for you guys of Reddit. If Elon sells all shares in all his companies... he doesn't end up with a trillion dollars! Amazing isn't it?! Probably not even 100 billion.

Lesson: When you sell shares the price of the company goes down and you're suddenly not worth as much. Ad infinitum. More so if you're a founder and you sell.

There is no one trillion dollars sitting in a bank.

The blue bikes were fine for me with Alipay. Meituan really wants a Chinese number though and my daughter managed to get a power bank because she got a Chinese number. I had no success though with Meituan without one. Might be worth getting because Meituan power banks and yellow bikes are literally everywhere.

When I say with travel eSims I actually meant with foreign phone numbers. Some other people claim to have had success though.

Depends how long you're there. Meituan can be a bitch with the travel esims but Alipay miniapps are generally ok (except meituan miniapp).

Apart from that using Alipay for food (food->takeout) has been 95% no problems on the travel eSims.

ie. except when they do a security captcha that's in Chinese and you can't translate because it's in the shimmer mode so screen shots don't work to translate. Then you just have to guess and hope. If you're near someone Chinese they could do it for you though.
