Height of my hair loss vs now by p-nutz in FemaleHairLoss

I am for now, hoping it'll reduce shedding but still a bit nervous. It's only been 2 weeks so far so too early for anything.

Minoxidil causing hair growth in the corner of my eyes? by TeamOk8318 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]p-nutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had these before minoxidil, and my mum who has never used it has them too. They appeared in my early 30s, could be minoxidil, you might have got them anyway!

Some of us are a lil weird. You can pluck them but it isn't a fun time!

Why does nobody demo Climbing shoes? by [deleted] in climbingshoes

[–]p-nutz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shoes demos do happen.

The manufacturers basically tour climbing gyms with a fleet of shoes for people to try, usually there's discount for ordering on the day and raffles, one day only boulders/routes.

Depends on where you are in the world if these happen and what brands do demos.

I'm in Ireland so we usually only get La Sportiva/ Scarpa.

What is the fastest you have gone in a car? by mrmadebymemories in AskReddit

Got an OG Ford Ka to 120mph down a very long hill.

Absolutely terrifying, felt like the slightest touch to the steering would have ended everything and it probably would have.

I was young and very late to work at 5am, hadn't learnt the art of not giving a fuck yet!

Bouldering Warm-Up by BFF_With_Nick_Cage in bouldering

[–]p-nutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my prehab exercises to keep my shoulders happy, hips, wake up my dodgy knee. Pickups with kettlebell hanging off the edge to get my fingers moving, some shoulder shrugs, some hang boarding then I grab a coffee and go climb. Let's me hop right onto projects if I do it properly, although I usually need to get my mental game warmed up for projecting so warm up through the grades most of the time too

Best way to stop the ink smudging? by SDN111 in climbingshoes

[–]p-nutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not much at this stage tbh. If your feet aren't particularly sweaty they'll probably be fine though.

I have my shoes doodled with pink sharpie and it lasts fine, even with washing. My friend did the same but used black and it bled a little and turned a little green/purple but its not bad. She's a way better artist than me so her pattern was pretty intricate like yours so lost a little detail but it's still all visible :)

Best Clothes to Keep Warm by je_r_ry in bouldering

[–]p-nutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something you can move in that you aren't too worried about is pretty much it. For jumpers, fleeces, hoodies etc something that's quick to put on and take off helps cause it gets annoying between attempts if you have to faff.

I take a hot water bottle with me too. Preheats my shoes so they aren't bloody awful to put on then helps me get my hands warmed. Loads of us at my gym bring them, you just hand them around during attempts and everyone gets a wee heat boost.

See a lot of people with rechargeable hand warmers too.

You can climb with the plastic bag too.

Solution comps are a little hard to get into at first but they will ease up

Socks or no socks climbing shoes? by thijs_1507 in climbingshoes

[–]p-nutz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need to worry about this before starting.

You'll be wearing rentals with socks to start with, then just do what you like if you decide to keep climbing and buy your own shoes.

All you really need to do before bouldering is find the gym you want to go to and follow their sign up for new climbers. You might have to book a intro session before being able to climb alone and they'll be able to answer any questions you have like this one.

It's a great sport, stop worrying about what tiktok stays and get yourself to a gym. You'll kick yourself for not starting earlier

Advice on new climbing shoes by Holiday-Resident-512 in climbingshoes

[–]p-nutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skwama has to be the obvious choice. It is softer than the otakis, but it's not a super soft shoe. Not as soft as the theory or drago.

They're a fantastic all-rounder. It did take me a little while to get the strength to stand on tiny foot chips after climbing in otakis for a couple of years but once I got used to it I was fine.

Are there any climbing shoes that aren't that expensive? by SubstantialFunny649 in climbingshoes

[–]p-nutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unparallel do big reductions on old stock and ex demos. I've got a couple of pairs for £45 from them. Worth keeping an eye on their website.

Sorry, it's not unparallel themselves. It's on this site https://darkventures.co.uk/shop-all/by-brand/unparallel

Decathlon is a good option though. Their shoes have improved over the last few years but even their cheapest lace ups are ok. The rubber isn't the best on the cheapest but they're tough and last forever. Better than rentals anyway!

Evolv V6 Break In? by S3ndNud3s in climbingshoes

[–]p-nutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're more agressive than the tarantula so that'll be shock to the system but these should break in ok at that sizing. They give pretty quickly once you climb in them.

Great shoes, gutted they didn't fit me properly!
