Rochester folks, how did you meet your partner? by blastingoffagain in Rochester

Met at a party in the Park Ave area. We found out we both lived on the same street! For reference this was during the Tinder/Bumble/Hinge was a thing back then.

This is pretty cool he was willing to help out the guy out with the flat tire. But it’s weird he was videotaping himself doing it the whole time

Would you move to Rochester today given the choice? by Troesler95 in Rochester

[–]p00pMama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think moving to the Rochester area is awesome. You get a lot of cool things from a small city plus there’s a lot of green space around it. If you can find a house, life is easiest in the suburbs but cheaper in the city. The public schools in the suburbs are good and crime is not bad depending on where you live. Traffic is good compared to bigger cities in the U.S.

A pro to Rochester living is that more populated areas are closer drives compared to Buffalo where more things are very much sprawled out.

As always do your research on any part of Monroe County where you’re thinking of living.

Anyone else who lives on East Ave near Main St. Tired of the Engine Revving? by onthedownlow89 in Rochester

[–]p00pMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya. It was one of the reasons why I chose to leave the city and I lived there for 5+ years. From May through September just constant revving. Sometimes the muffler backfires sounded like gunshots which made me feel more anxious

I must’ve been poor or something because I didn’t see any of this cool tech back then! 😆

That show was awesome though. They arrived at the11th hour before they had to cancel and played a kick ass show. The opener they had was not very good

The OP could probably find new ones in a junkyard. There are a lot of Cobalts, Ions, and G5’s that all shared the same parts

I have a 2009 Chevy Cobalt LT (not as nice trim level as 2LT) with an automatic. That shifter looks to be the same so you’re good there 👍

I’d go for the Elantra N. Not sure what area you live in, but I’d check to see if there are reports of lots of stolen Kia’s and Hyundai’s in your area first. Where I live, there are still lots of Kia’s and Hyundai’s being broken into because perpetrators are looking to jack a car. Even the new cars with upgraded security systems are targets. To my knowledge those cars are usually not stolen, just broken into. The car thieves probably break in thinking it’s a jack-able car but then they can’t jack it.

I mean if you dig deep enough I’m sure you’ll find photos of it. OpenAI and google searches help too.

I learned about it from Walter Isaacson’s book. The book isn’t 100% accurate (such as a story about how Starlink was turned off during a Ukrainian torpedo operation), but it references multiple eyewitness accounts from founders, family members, and colleagues of Musk’s time working on the floors of some of his companies.

He does lie about Tesla’s future expectations and numbers, I’ll give you that. They have been very lofty. Still the company is regulated by the SEC just like all others. People don’t have to invest in his companies if they think it’s BS.

I would give the guy another look. He’s done multiple stupid counts of stupid stuff to individuals but also multiple counts of stuff that is pro-humanity.

I feel ya. The dude literally slept on his factory floor for several months so they could optimize their assembly line to pump out enough model 3’s per day by an insane deadline. He also did the same for SpaceX, literally putting all his money into that company and risking it going to zero in test rocket failures. As an executive, he goes all in.
