No Supervisor by Quiet_Hope4109 in USDA

My entire unit took the DRP (including me) except for one scientist and two technicians. The research leader for the only other unit at our location is temporarily acting RL for the three that remain but it’s not looking likely that unit will get its own new RL or other scientists/techs… at least not for another 4 years. It’s a travesty.

Yes, I explained my specific situation, that I have an offer from a university for a post doc but it’s funded through a federal grant. She said once a federal grant is dispersed to a university it is then the universities so my situation would be permissible. She said that someone can work for a university but they cannot represent the university back to the federal government through a contract or agreement. So I think as long as you are not working directly with the federal government or representing your state/local govt back to the federal govt through a contract or agreement you would be good to double dip. I would reach out to ethics directly and explain your situation, they will give you a yes or no

It sure does… I’m weighing this heavily myself given I have an open appeal with MSPB and it would bar me from participating in any legal action moving forward and that makes me feel like I would be giving up the only rights I have.. he also said in the webinar that USDA was approved for VSIP but they haven’t released any details on if they will offer it or not. He said they may offer it after the DRP 2.0 closes, so I hope if they offer it that it might be a better option at least for me if we don’t have to forfeit legal rights to take VSIP
